I have big lego sets for fun, but I have tons of those little lego sets you can buy. What I'll do is break out one of the little lego sets and build exactly whats on the box or in the instructions.
Then I toss the box and instructions away, rip apart what I've built and then just build something random. Nine times out of ten it really works.
I will also play video games, open world games are the best for writers block, the key is to not actually play the game but just wander around and get into trouble.
When I'm really desperate I hit the heavy bag or take a walk, but that's a last resort as it never works as well for me as the first two.

Working from home and not having to wear pants. Just kidding (kind of). Reading changed me when I was younger, I think it made me a better person, more open minded. To have even the slightest chance of having that same effect on someone is a great feeling.
I do often tell people, and quite sincerely, that being a writer is the closest thing to being a criminal without having to actually commit crime. You just constantly feel like you're getting away with something and that's a great feeling if you've got a bit of the pirate in you, which most writers have.

Just write. I know that sounds like a lazy answer, but it's the truth. There's nothing scarier than the blank page, but you can do it. Nowadays with places like amazon making it so easy for people to self publish, it's certainly worth a shot if you think you have a story to tell.
Just get past that blank page fear. Type a word, before you know it you'll have a paragraph, then a page and honestly it gets easier from there. It wont be perfect, but writing is always a tinkerers toll.

I am currently working on a straight up sci-fi adventure about a family of thieves, smugglers and pirates who set out to save planet earth called Blood Rebellious.
I'm also working on a modern day fantasy/magick sage called Night Mage about a young woman with the potential to bring true magick back into the world...if she doesn't get killed first.
Plus my essays, short stories and am currently addressing notes an applying them to my screenplay Ur Perfect.

I honestly have no idea how this works. Sometimes it'll just be a random thought. Other times a story will come to me as I stare at the clouds or even while eating or sitting in the bathroom (where all great thinkers do their best thinking).
I'll get a kernel of an idea and will write down a quick log line then let it gestate in my head until it's ready to burst, then I start fleshing it out and see if there is really something there. Sometimes there isn't, but when there is, it's a great feeling and always exciting.
Writing in and of itself is inspiration for me, being in the zone is one of the greatest feelings someone can experience. Time melts away, the world folds in on itself and it's just you and the keyboard.

The Geek started out as a television series and was developed twice for two separate studios. When I originally came up with the idea I really wanted to do a live action comic book, encompassing all of the things I loved about comics. It was very "9pm" friendly and quite tongue in cheek. But, the road from development to pilot is long and perilous. The show never got past pilot script.
Years later it was optioned as a feature but again, languished there. I had an opportunity through a dear friend to turn The Geek into a novel, which I had never considered.
In the end, I think it's the best thing that could have happened. It took on a whole new life as a book and is far more dark, yet I think more realistic for what it is.
I was obviously working some stuff out while writing it because it definitely went in strange and new directions from the original concept.
