Goodreads asked Jonathan Latt:

How do you get inspired to write?

Jonathan Latt I honestly have no idea how this works. Sometimes it'll just be a random thought. Other times a story will come to me as I stare at the clouds or even while eating or sitting in the bathroom (where all great thinkers do their best thinking).

I'll get a kernel of an idea and will write down a quick log line then let it gestate in my head until it's ready to burst, then I start fleshing it out and see if there is really something there. Sometimes there isn't, but when there is, it's a great feeling and always exciting.

Writing in and of itself is inspiration for me, being in the zone is one of the greatest feelings someone can experience. Time melts away, the world folds in on itself and it's just you and the keyboard.
