Wende Dikec I don't believe in writer's block. If I'm ever stuck on something, I distract myself by working on something else, like editing the previous chapter. I also like to meditate before I write to clear my mind. I attend a weekly session with a group called Mindful Writers. We meditate and then write for four solid hours. It might sound odd, but it really works. My teacher, Madhu Bazazz Wangu, created a fabulous series of guided meditations for writers. I downloaded it so I can use it to meditate at home, too.
Wende Dikec I love everything about it. I love working at home, in my pajamas, with a big cup of coffee on my desk. I love creating stories and characters and worlds that would never have existed if I hadn't written them down. I love the editing process, and working with an editor to make my books as good as I possibly can. I even love the promo part, sharing my books with others and hoping they'll enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.
Wende Dikec Keep writing. Finish the manuscript. As soon as you're done with the first book, start writing a second. Don't get stuck on the first page or the first paragraph or the first sentence. Don't over edit or destroy your creativity with negative thoughts. Write forward and just get it done.
Wende Dikec I'm currently working on a New Adult romance under my pen name, Abigail Drake. I write Young Adult fiction under my real name. For the steamier stuff, I use a pen name. It's kind of like Clark Kent sticking on a pair of glasses as a disguise and no one realizing he's actually Superman. I wear glasses as Abigail. Lol. I think it's a great disguise.
Wende Dikec Everyday I force myself to sit at my desk and work for at least an hour before I'm allowed to do anything else. Normally one hour becomes two, and two becomes three, and before I know it, I've been writing all day.

I get inspired by crazy little things. It can be by a snippet of conversation, a place I visited, a person I meet. I never know what will do it, but every time it happens, it sort of feels like a miracle.
Wende Dikec I was doing my nails, and the results were less than spectacular. They looked terrible, to tell the truth. Suddenly, the first line of the book, "I died because of a bad manicure," popped into my head. The rest of the book just sort of flowed from there.
