Nicole Warren Couples who accept each other's flaws, or perhaps are even drawn to one another because of their imperfections, carry an instant spark for me. And throw in a hint of obsession - I'm hooked. :) For that reason, Gideon and Eva, Chuck and Blair, and Christian and Anastasia, come to mind quickly as favorites.
Nicole Warren I was actually inspired to write Cold November Rain from a popular, dramatic fairy tale TV series!

There was something about the heroine that I really appreciated. She was insecure as a mother but always tried to do her best and her quiet strength, coupled by a visible vulnerability that came from an unstable childhood drew me to her. As a result I found myself imagining her in a non-fairy tale setting and it kind of just grew from there.
Nicole Warren I've always enjoyed writing and throughout my school years it was always my strongest subject. However, I'm one of those people that have had so many interests that I've had a difficult time deciding what to do with my life. So it was that I eventually got a degree in business, a fairly open-ended option.

But what inspired me to finally write was actually when I chaperoned my son's school trip to Washington, D.C. I love history but while on the trip I was struck by the lack of celebration for the women in history. And I'm not just concerned about the "larger than life, movers and shakers," but about the women in the background that quietly supported the creation of this great nation.

So honestly, at first, I thought I might want to write historical non-fiction. But as I contemplated it for a year or so, my mind went wild with ideas and I ultimately decided I'd likely have more fun writing some combination of women's fiction and romance.

Women today are expected to be everything to everybody and so I hope to, in one way or another, represent the struggles women go through. But I still find it important to have some sort of escapist component to my stories. For now, I don't want to write nitty-gritty stories. I want there to be a happy ending, for there to always be a light at the end of the tunnel, which of course, must include a heavy dose of romance!
Nicole Warren I am currently working on the sequel to Cold November Rain. The rough draft is finished and I am now honing the story and hope to be in the final editing process soon!
Nicole Warren Write what's in your heart because your authenticity will be your stable foundation,
Nicole Warren Indulging in fantasy! Let's face it, life is complicated and doesn't always go the way we hope. So for me, writing fiction is my escape and in some ways, my freedom. My hope is that my novels can be a similar gift to the readers that my writing is to me.
Nicole Warren For me, how I deal with writer's block depends, in part, on what exactly my issue is at that time.

Sometimes the reason I suffer from writer's block is due to lack of sleep. If I'm staring blankly at my similarly blank screen, feeling fuzzy-headed, I ask myself if I stayed up too late the night before or if I woke before the sun that morning. If the answer to either question is yes, then, I admit it, I might just close down the computer and take a nap! :) When I wake up refreshed and ready to type away (instead of staying tired and foggy-headed all day, getting not a thing done) I'm reassured the nap was time well spent!

Another type of writer's block I suffer from is when I become hung up on a scene or even plot, and I find myself going in circles and not able to choose which way to go. In that instance I know I just need to take a break from the rut I've found myself in and go for a walk. Overthinking is a real block to the process. So if I can go for a walk and get my mind off of the conundrum for even just ten minutes, I find that when I return I have somehow magically untied the knot I was in and am suddenly fluid with my writing again.

Lastly, my most favorite way of dealing with any kind of writer's block is to read, read, read! Inspiration is so important and so is honing one's skills. For me, reading is essential!
