Goodreads asked Nicole Warren:

How do you get inspired to write?

Nicole Warren I've always enjoyed writing and throughout my school years it was always my strongest subject. However, I'm one of those people that have had so many interests that I've had a difficult time deciding what to do with my life. So it was that I eventually got a degree in business, a fairly open-ended option.

But what inspired me to finally write was actually when I chaperoned my son's school trip to Washington, D.C. I love history but while on the trip I was struck by the lack of celebration for the women in history. And I'm not just concerned about the "larger than life, movers and shakers," but about the women in the background that quietly supported the creation of this great nation.

So honestly, at first, I thought I might want to write historical non-fiction. But as I contemplated it for a year or so, my mind went wild with ideas and I ultimately decided I'd likely have more fun writing some combination of women's fiction and romance.

Women today are expected to be everything to everybody and so I hope to, in one way or another, represent the struggles women go through. But I still find it important to have some sort of escapist component to my stories. For now, I don't want to write nitty-gritty stories. I want there to be a happy ending, for there to always be a light at the end of the tunnel, which of course, must include a heavy dose of romance!
