I'd say 13+ is perfectly fine. Thanks for asking!

Hi Anne - I'm so sorry to hear that your copy hasn't arrived. The publisher handles the goodreads contest so let me follow up with them. Would you mind emailing me at fiona@fionadavisbooks.com with your full name and address and I'll circle back. Thanks, F.

Hi Kathleen, thanks to your friend for the recommendation. You can read them in any order, they're all stand alones, so take a look at the descriptions and pick whichever one appeals most. I hope you enjoy the read!

Love this! Thanks a ton for picking up the book and I hope you enjoy others. I do a ton of research, which includes getting behind-the-scenes tours of buildings like The Dakota and The Met, which is probably the best part of the job. I'll be on book tour in January for my next book, The Stolen Queen, and I can't wait. You can always check the events page of my website for updates, as everything will be listed there once it's confirmed. Hope to see you in person!

Hi Chouchette -
Thanks so much for reaching out. I was diagnosed with PD in 2020, and I'm very lucky in that the medication is working well and at the moment my symptoms are minor, mainly a tremor in my right arm and leg. Thanks also for picking up The Spectacular, and yes, the Michael J. Fox Foundation is incredible and I'm lucky to be part of their Patient Council. In fact, just in case you're in the Boston area, I'll be doing a fundraiser for MJFF on Sept 6th - excited to get the word out. More info here: https://give.michaeljfox.org/team/596676
Truly appreciate your kind words--

Hi Shelley - I agree, I can't wait to get that book out into the world! In the meantime, I'll be releasing an audiobook novella on March 5th called THE GIMLET SLIP:
"A headstrong, fast-driving young woman gets pulled into a dangerous bootlegging scheme in this thrilling novella set in glamorous and gritty Prohibition-era New York City, written in an exciting collaboration between bestselling and critically acclaimed authors Fiona Davis and Greg Wands."

Thank you a ton! The next book will be out January 2025 and is set at the Met Museum. I'm so excited to share it with you.
Before then, in March of 2024, I'll be releasing an audiobook novella that I wrote with Greg Wands called The Gimlet Slip. It's set in Prohibition era NYC and includes a woman who runs a criminal empire out of the Plaza Hotel. More on that here:

Hi Kim - thanks so much for reaching out! Thrilled you enjoy the books. I agree, she's an amazing woman and there's already a great fictional book about her called The Engineer's Wife by Tracey Enerson Wood, which came out in 2020. Otherwise I would be all over that! Excellent idea, for sure. xoxo

Hi Eileen,
Thank you so much for reaching out and I'm honored! It's really hard to choose a favorite, but I have to say Lions is right up there. It was a fun one to write and research. I'm also excited about the next book, The Magnolia Palace, which comes out January 25th. Best of luck on your final project - I hope it goes really well!!
Best,
Fiona

Hi Lisa - thanks a ton for reaching out and I'm so glad you enjoyed the book. I've never stayed at the Chelsea, and as I was doing my research it was under renovation, but luckily I was able to interview a number of people who lived there, which helped. Such a remarkable building, I agree!

Hi Marilyn - thanks so much for your kind words and for having reviewing the other books - it makes such a difference for us writers. I'm afraid that I'm all out of ARCs for The Chelsea Girls. They went fast. You might want to try signing up for NetGalley and see if you can get one that way, otherwise the pub date is 7/30 so it'll be available very soon! Best, F.

Hi Sharon - thanks a ton for entering the contest, as well as your kind words. I'm thrilled you enjoyed the books. And yes, The Chelsea Girls will be published on July 30th - I'm so excited to get it out in the world and can't wait to hear what you think! Best, F.

I’m so happy you enjoyed it - it was a special book to work on, and I’m thrilled with the reception it’s getting. I’m writing the fourth book, it’ll be out next summer and I can’t wait to share it with you! Best, F.

Hi Sheila - thank you so much! So happy you enjoy them and I promise I’m busy working on book number four - it’ll come out next August. I’m on track to do a book a year and will keep at it! Best, Fiona

Hi Cindy - I love to read dual timeline books, and wanted to see if I could pull it off. I also love mysteries, and the way the dual timelines keep the plot moving forward -- as you're trying to figure out what happened in the past -- appealed to me. Finally, I love the way they show how women's views and voices have changed through the ages. Enjoy The Dollhouse and thanks again!
Fiona Davis
Hi Cindy- thanks so much for spreading the word about the books - I'm thrilled you enjoyed them. All three (The Dollhouse, The Address, and The Masterpiece) take place in New York City in two different time periods, with an element of mystery that connects the two plots. I also love a good plot twist, so there's at least one in every book. The themes that resonate with me are how women's voices and agency have changed over time, the importance of the arts in our lives, and the hidden stories tucked beneath New York's historic timeline. Best, F.

Hi Christine - thanks for asking! I usually consider a building first - the Barbizon Hotel for Women, the Dakota, Grand Central - and then I do a lot of research to see if it will work as a setting for a fictional story. As I do the research (interviewing experts, residents, reading lots of books and articles), ideas for the characters tend to start forming in my mind - often inspired by real people I've read about. So it's an organic process that starts with a seed of an idea and grows through learning more about the place and the people who populate it. I hope this makes sense. :) Best, F.

Hi Lisa - thanks for asking! I took an art history class in college but majored in international relations (whatever that is)! I think, as a former journalist, I was able to do a lot of research on the subject, for example, reading biographies of Arshile Gorky and Lee Krasner, and really dive into the life of an artist in the 1920s. I'm so glad that came to life on the page, as it was the one thing I was worried about pulling off. Thrilled you enjoyed it!
