I stop writing for a while. While I am on a writing break, I read a lot. Some of my ideas come from reading. I will read something and think about how well the book was written, how the story flowed, and how the characters interacted with one another. I will always start thinking about my own book and how my characters interact, then an idea usually just pops into my head. That is why I read in between. I believe reading wakes up the imagination and gets those creative juices flowing!

The best thing about being a writer is telling a story and having someone else like it. When I write I feel like I am sharing a piece of my soul with someone. I almost feel naked when someone is reading something I have written and I can see them reading it. My books are like my children. It's very personal and I am happy (even if I am scared sometimes) to share the stories floating around in my head with others. I can only hope to one day see my name at least once on the best-selling charts.

I have been writing since I was in high school. Someone I cared about at the time did not like it because it was a story written about people I know while using their names. After this person stated that they did not like it, I stopped writing. My advice is to never do that! If you don't have the time to write, that's different. By all means, take a break, but do not stop doing what you like/want to do (unless it's illegal!) just because someone didn't like what you did. Like the advice from Steven King (I will never forget) write for yourself, but make sure it's something that someone else is going to want to read. I write because I want to. I want to get the story out of my head. My intended immediate audience are those that have characters in the story, but I would love for everyone to read my work. My point is don't let anyone discourage you from writing.

I am inspired to write by music or feelings. It can be either or both. I have to listen to music while I am writing. It helps me drift off to another place. I am sort of out of touch with reality when I am writing.

The idea for my most recent book began when I wanted to write a paranormal romance and base the characters personalities on people that I know or have known in my life. I originally started writing as fan fiction, but the book turned into something completely different than anything I had ever read or watched before. I am happy with where the book went, and I am glad that it did not turn into fan fiction. No offense to any fan fic writers!
