Goodreads asked Misty Nickels:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Misty Nickels I have been writing since I was in high school. Someone I cared about at the time did not like it because it was a story written about people I know while using their names. After this person stated that they did not like it, I stopped writing. My advice is to never do that! If you don't have the time to write, that's different. By all means, take a break, but do not stop doing what you like/want to do (unless it's illegal!) just because someone didn't like what you did. Like the advice from Steven King (I will never forget) write for yourself, but make sure it's something that someone else is going to want to read. I write because I want to. I want to get the story out of my head. My intended immediate audience are those that have characters in the story, but I would love for everyone to read my work. My point is don't let anyone discourage you from writing.
