When I was a little boy, my Uncle Jim used to tell me stories about a giant wolf that walked on two legs and liked to eat little children. It was an ongoing tale and he had a new story each time I saw him. He got a kick out of scaring me; I enjoyed it as well. Growing up, I watched every werewolf movie I could find... later in life I decided to start writing my own stories. In chapter 8 of Forgotten Moon, James Clark has a flat tire on Highway 50 in his 1964 Lincoln Continental (my uncles car). This was a nod to my late Uncle Jim. I thought it was fitting that he finally meet the werewolf he told me about in my childhood... turnabout is fair play.

(view spoiler)[Mr. Rice, hypothetically, if you decided to bring back Red Baxter what would you turn him into? An old terrorist? A dreaded gangster? A literal monster? Considering its been nearly four decades, he can be basically anything you wish, right? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I simply asked about Red Baxter, because I think that the subplot about Winston Prophett and the murder of Bryce's parents has potential. I mean, Jackson learned the truth and got revenge, but Winston could've easily become an Archenemy character, only to be offed by Cain, while Bryce remains ignorant of the truth. But, Baxter can return as a major antagonist, and an Archenemy for his complicity in the murder. Right? (hide spoiler)]

"Why don't we make it so that he goes home, shoots his father, and joins the Texas Rangers ... something good like that?"

Brian,
Thanks so much for the kind words. I've never been a patient man, so I'm not the person to ask about that problem, lol. Perhaps you could read some other books. I'm a big fan of James Rollins' early stand alone works, such as Amazonia, Subterranean, and so on.
Also, please friend me on Facebook; it's my main platform where I interact with readers.
Thanks again!

Right now I'm still working on Dark Flyers, it releases Oct 17. I haven't even started Return to Bane County yet. I am an organic writer which means I don't plan everything out ahead of time. I let my characters drive the story. Jackson and the others will return to Bane County after Dark Flyers. What happens then is anyone's guess. Thanks for reading.

Dark Flyers: A Jackson Campbell Thriller (Book 2) is a continuing story, and begins on the same exact day as the ending (last page) of Dark Timber: A Jackson Campbell Thriller (Book 1)
If you have read Dark Timber (Book 1), then you know the overall background of the coming story in Book 2, Dark Flyers, e.g., a dead body has been found, and claims of a vampire have been made. We can all guess that the sheriff will investigate, and the story will unfold from there. I don't usually give away a bunch of details in advance. Thank you for reading.

Susan Prophett received a 20-year sentence, so I don't see her returning any time soon. As for the creature's origins, it was touched on a little in Book 4 with the petroglyphs, which were thousands of years old; I may speak further on this in the future. As for a Bane County having an Endgame, I'm unsure at this point. You see, I'm an organic writer, meaning I really don't plan things out. I just sit down and start writing, turning my characters loose to do as they please. I'm as surprised as the next person at what happens sometimes. Thanks.
