Nick Oefinger I move to a new setting. I mentioned, in an earlier question, that I find settings inspirational. I'll go sit on a bench in the center of town, or take a walk down a nature trail, or drop in for coffee at someplace I haven't been in a while (hopefully, they serve coffee). If that doesn't work, I ask a writer friend for advice; I've found writer's block to be specific. I don't have an idea for a scene, or a good opener; I'll solicit suggestions.
Nick Oefinger Being read. That's it, honestly. I love hearing about how readers have enjoyed my work. I love finding out what they'd like to see in upcoming works. I like answering questions, helping out with a writing exercise or a little piece of advice where I can; it's a fantastic feeling. It's great knowing that people appreciate what I've shared with them.
Nick Oefinger Figure out where you're having the most trouble, and confront that. Look up strategies online for "finding motivation as a writer," "writing the perfect ending," or whatever your issue is. Try everything. Don't let one small issue hold you back from publication!
Nick Oefinger We've got several projects going; Ambur and I are each working on our own projects, but there's also the promised free epilogue to "The Death of Constance," which will be made available through Goodreads and our Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/Ambur...).

We're also working on the second installment in the "Rebirth of Hatred" series, "The Denial of Constance." We're now planning four parts in total, along with spinoff books for the major characters, and possibly an assortment of short, one-off side adventures.
Nick Oefinger Little things inspire me. A tree with leaves changing into two distinct colors, in a regular pattern, might remind me of a sunset -- or a fire. I'm regularly inspired by films, music, and other books.

What really does it for me is settings. I get a feel that's associated with a place -- how it looks at different times of day, what's going on in the vicinity, the flow of traffic, the local sounds. Many of my stories start with a scene, not necessarily the first one in the story. Most of those scenes start with where they happen.
Nick Oefinger It was Ambur's, actually; the woman is on fire with ideas. She proposed the concept of a wealthy heiress wanting to do something with her family's money, and getting caught up in a scene that was too much for her to handle... basically, the book's little blurb, as it's written.
