Goodreads asked Nick Oefinger:

How do you get inspired to write?

Nick Oefinger Little things inspire me. A tree with leaves changing into two distinct colors, in a regular pattern, might remind me of a sunset -- or a fire. I'm regularly inspired by films, music, and other books.

What really does it for me is settings. I get a feel that's associated with a place -- how it looks at different times of day, what's going on in the vicinity, the flow of traffic, the local sounds. Many of my stories start with a scene, not necessarily the first one in the story. Most of those scenes start with where they happen.
