Thank you, Melissa. If you liked Wolf Tales, go to my website at https://www.katedouglas.com/spirit-wi... where you can find out more about the spin-off Spirit Wild series. These are stories of the children as adults, and I've got six of them at this point. Thanks for your comment!

Reading list? LOL...I'm a book-aholic and I read constantly. There is no list. I preorder my faves (Nalini Singh, JR Ward, Jayne Ann Krentz, Robyn Carr, etc) but I love to find "new to me" authors on BookBub and I've always got a book on my phone when I don't have one of my print books handy. I'm also a re-reader, and some of my poor books have been read to death. My spouse teases me about 'reading the words off' the book, because I'll read a favorite so often. I discovered Sonali Dev and The Bollywood Bride, A Bollyood Affair, an A Change of Heart a few months ago, and I've read those three books multiple times already. Right now I'm busy writing the next book in my Spirit Wild series, so I'm concentrating on that "world" and have reread a couple of the older ones in the original Wolf Tales series. It's been so long since I wrote them, it's almost like reading someone else's work, so I'm thoroughly enjoying myself. As long as I've got a book handy, I'm happy.

LOL...there are no mysteries. My husband solved the big one when he did my genealogy and we discovered that my father was 100% Russian Jew, not English as he'd led us to believe--unfortunately, we found out long after his death, so never got to ask him why the subterfuge. Other than that, I'm pretty dull in real life. I do, however, have a wonderful fantasy world where I spend my time!

I'm not sure how the list is set up there, but it is definitely confusing any way you look at it. The first book is just Wolf Tales without a number. The ones with fractions are actually the novellas that come between the first nine novels--there are no novellas after Wolf Tales 10-12. So Wolf Tales is followed by Wolf Tales 1.5 Chanku Rising, which first appeared in Sexy Beast. I've got the explanation and the entire list on my website. If you have trouble accessing it, or it still doesn't make sense, drop me a private note at kate@katedouglas.com. Here's the link:

The nice thing about the separate e-novellas (the titles with .5 in them) is that you can read the series without buying the much more expensive Sexy Beast anthologies.
Hope this helps.

Hi Celeste--I'm going to copy the info from my website--there's a Chanku link at www.katedouglas.com with a lot of info about the series, but here's the order and explanation:
PLEASE NOTE--the Wolf Tales 1.5, 2.5, etc. titles are the SAME novellas that appeared in the Sexy Beast/Wild Nights anthologies.
They are an important part of the story arc--if you miss any of them, you will feel a bit lost in later novels. Kensington released them separately a few years ago for readers who did not want the entire anthology.
Chanku 1st generation:
Wolf Tales
Sexy Beast—Chanku Rising/or Wolf Tales 1.5 Chanku Rising
Wolf Tales II
Wild Nights—Camille’s Dawn / or Wolf Tales 2.5 Chanku Dawn
Wolf Tales III
Sexy Beast II—Chanku Fallen / or Wolf Tales 3.5 Chanku Fallen
Wolf Tales IV
Sexy Beast III—Chanku Journey / or Wolf Tales 4.5 Chanku Journey
Wolf Tales V
Sexy Beast IV—Chanku Destiny / or Wolf Tales 5.5 Chanku Destiny
Wolf Tales VI
Sexy Beast V—Chanku Wild / or Wolf Tales 6.5 Chanku Wild
Wolf Tales VII
Sexy Beast VI--Chanku Honor / or Wolf Tales 7.5 Chanku Honor
Wolf Tales VIII
Sexy Beast VII--Chanku Challenge /or Wolf Tales 8.5 Chanku Challenge
Wolf Tales 9
Sexy Beast VIII--Chanku Spirit /or Wolf Tales 9.5 Chanku Spirit
Wolf Tales 10
Wolf Tales 11
Wolf Tales 12
Spirit Wild: Chanku 2nd Generation
Dark Wolf
Dark Spirit
Dark Moon
Dark Refuge
Hope that helps!

LOL...you should see my TBR stack! Right now I'm reading Karen Chance's newest Cassie Palmer book, REAP THE WIND, and the one I'm reading next is the newest in Joey W. Hill's Vampire Queen series, Night's Templar. Since I'm also writing and busy with the release of the first book in my new Intimate Relations romantic suspense series, (INTIMATE comes out Dec. 1) I won't have much free reading time until just about the time Jayne Ann Krentz's SECRET SISTERS shows up on my doorstep.
I generally choose paranormal for the escapism, but I like all genres. If it's a good story, I'll read it, no matter what it's about. I always have a book going and steal minutes to read when I'm under a lot of writing pressure. I think I read more with deadlines approaching because reading good stories by other authors helps to clear my mind. One of my favorites for that is anything by Nalini Singh. Her voice is so powerful and her writing absolutely flawless, whether she's writing paranormal or contemporary. You can generally see what I've been reading by checking out my past newsletters on my web page--I love to recommend favorite books because so many of my readers enjoy the same sorts of stories as I do.
Thanks for asking--it's taken my mind off what I'm supposed to be working on right now, which means I can now approach edits on the third book in my RS series with a fresh mind.

My St. Martin's Press editor actually asked me if I would write an erotic paranormal werewolf story with some menage sex and "BBW" heroines. I signed a contract for three of them. Wolf Tales came about when Margaret Riley wanted to start Changeling Press in 2004, and asked me to write something "Over the top sexy." We decided on shapeshifters, liked wolves and I did some research on wolves which led me to a site with information about a sub-species of Tibetan wolf known locally as "Chanku." Anton Cheval and twenty-one novels and novellas came from that bit of info--and four more since I've started the Spirit Wild series.

My head is so full of stories it's hard to figure out what to choose. I can see a person walking down the street and start going off in fictional directions, or watch something on TV--there was a Coke or Pepsi commercial years ago with a bunch of women in an office building drooling over the hot construction guys on the building next door. My contemporary romance 68 & Climbing was a direct result of that commercial. Just leave yourself open to ideas.

Never, ever give up! You'll know if you're meant to write, because it's like a drug. You have to be writing. It took me 20 years from first manuscript to final publication with NY, though I actually published earlier with one of the early ebook publishers in 1999. (I signed with them in 1998) Now it's a matter of getting the book written, and if you're frustrated with the traditional model, you can do it on your own. I always encourage traditional publishing as a way to learn the business and build a name with the help of their promotional push, but it's not necessary anymore. I personally enjoy traditional publishing, but I do both now and enjoy indie publishing every bit as much. In a practical manner, I tell new writers to learn the technicalities of the language because you can't break the rules if you don't know them, never put anything out for public consumption without having it professionally edited first, and make sure your product looks professional. A bad cover can totally sink a story. And join writers' groups where you can swap information. Knowledge in this business really is power.
Good luck! And my apologies for not responding sooner--I had no idea I had any messages.

My apologies for not answering--I haven't received notifications of questions! When I'm stuck on my own writing, I will pull out a favorite author's book and reread. Any number of favorites will work, but they are always books I've enjoyed that remind me what I like in a story. It always works!

Tracy, I thought you just had to click on the contest link, but it takes you to a gazillion books. I have no idea. Have asked a person at SMP, and hope to hear back by Monday. I'm sorry--I have never figured out how Goodreads works!

I go to work in my jammies, write about strong, good looking men and amazing kick-ass women all day, I get great emails from readers and on top of all this, I get to call it my day job! What's not to love?

Dark Captive, the sixth book in my Spirit Wild series, has released. I'm working on the reverted copies of Dark Wolf and Dark Moon so I can get them back out to readers as soon as possible. (Posted 5/17/18)
