Lew Trigg Lots of mysteries. Now you really don't think I'll tell you those, do you?

You'll find them in future novels and short stories.
Lew Trigg I've never really had that dreaded disease. As I form ideas in my mind I try to "play them out" by hypothetical situations to see if they are good enough and/or believable. It really bugs me when I'm reading a book or watching a movie that is not supposed to be fantasy or science fiction and I'm thinking, "this just couldn't happen."
O.K., back to writer's block. Usually by the time I sit down with my computer the story is pouring out of my brain and I keep going until things slow down. Then I try to think of what might come next and go back to the "mind game."
Lew Trigg Even though about a zillion books are published each month, the average person would be clueless if challenged to write an entire novel. It is hard work and takes a nearly inexhaustible source of creativity to write a good book.
Once you can say that your new novel was recently published you will see an admiration from those around you. It's just such a high knowing that you've achieved something that most people would love to be able to do. Also, I've been getting suggestions from many of my readers that my novel "Gifts from the Sea" would make an excellent movie. Should that happen I'm sure the recognition would be followed by some big bucks! Money has never been my main motivation, but in our society, isn't that the standard by which all things are judged?
Lew Trigg Regardless of any great ideas or your all A's in English; YOU NEED TO READ!! You need to read hundreds of books by quality authors. Once you have been mentored by great writers through reading their books you will see your writing style emerge.
Start writing a journal of your thoughts and ideas daily or at least several times a week. When you think you have hand written something worthy of another person reading it, sit down at your computer and type it out. Then print it. Then read it. You will probably find that it looks completely different when seen in print. Read it out loud. If you were saying this to one of your peers, would it hold their interest? Would the average reader find it of interest? If not, start over or perhaps the whole thing isn't worth any more effort. If so, think up a better idea and do it all over again!
Lew Trigg As with my recently published novel, I have a kernel of an idea in my head. It is something that, to my knowledge, has never been written about before. The possibility of it happening hasn't even been thought of. So, in order to make it credible and not science fiction I am doing lots of research. I am hoping that I'll be able to complete this one in a shorter period of time, maybe in about 18 months or so.
Lew Trigg I lived most of my adult life as a business man and although I wrote many short stories and essays I never seemed to find the time to write a novel. When I retired I knew it was now or never. I had no excuses or reasons not to. Three and one-half years later I completed "Gifts from the Sea."
I wanted to write something that would really entertain readers. I made my chapters short and my desire is to allow the readers imagination to "fill in the blanks." As the old saying goes, "less if more."
Lew Trigg I wanted to write a novel about a retired gentleman meeting a woman and the sparks flying. Lust and love are not just for the young. I also have always been fascinated by identical twins. In my novel I needed something to tie all of those things together with lots of action and adventure.
I had read about ambergris being a very valuable treasure floating in the ocean and sometimes being washed ashore. Expensive French perfume companies use this unusual treasure as a fixative so that the fragrance lingers on human skin for a longer period of time.
The collection of this treasure brings my protagonist in contact with people of questionable character and a drug cartel in nearby Mexico.
I also placed Gio and Sally in the path of a category 4 hurricane when they honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas. I wanted lots of action and quite an array of characters.
