Jennifer Fawcett I read books. I listen to audiobooks. I listen to podcasts and the news. I watch movies and television and plays. They're all stories and equally valid. I don't think there's a hierarchy, as in some are more important than others. I get inspiration from hearing good stories no matter what their form. Sometimes, a good story will unlock something that I'm working on - even if what I'm working on has seemingly nothing to do with what I've just read or heard. Other times, a question or a memory will pop into my head and that will lead to a new idea.
Jennifer Fawcett When I was about thirteen years old, my friends and I visited a local house that was supposed to be haunted. I've never forgotten the feeling I had standing inside it. Maybe it was just in my imagination, but there was a feeling in that house that I'd never experienced before. Fast forward a number of years and I decided to try NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). I didn't know what to write about and then imagined four young teenaged girls standing in front of an abandoned house, trying to convince themselves to go in. The rest of the story unfolded from there.
