Reading everything I could get my hands on as a child, I always had my nose in a book. Under the covers, with a flashlight, I would read well into the night, defying parental commands to go to sleep. Loving the classics, I delved into Dickens, Bronte, Austin, Hardy, Steinbeck and Hemingway, pulling books out from my father's vast library. Often sneaking books that were over my head (and totally inappropriate for a young reader), I was seriously questioned once by my seventh grade teacher when she spotted "The Godfather" tucked in my bookbag!
Reading leads to writing. The love of the written word is a passion, one that never disappoints. And reading everything, from War and Peace to a corny romance novel, gave me all the inspiration I ever needed.

I was asked by a writer/producer to collaborate on screenplays, so I'm taking a break from novel-writing and diving headfirst into this new world. Loving every minute, and having a blast! Two screenplays are completed, one still in editing, and one is out and about, making the rounds. In addition to the new ideas, we are also working on a screen adaptation of my novel, Always Just Beyond.

Connections, my newest novel, completes the story line established in the seven previous books, with characters from the past converging and reuniting. Even though this is a new love story, it mysteriously echoes the relationship between Meg Pedersen and Vic Becker (Elke's Magic). And it brings everything full circle! Now, since Elke's Magic is a screenplay, by Daina Ann Smith, Connections will hopefully answer the most asked question: What really happened to Meg and Vic?
