J.R. Seeger Tom,
Greetings and good to hear you are still listening to the jungle telegraph.

I hope you find the books worth the candle.
The MIKE4 series has six so far and one with the censors right now. Plenty in the later novels in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In the Steampunk Raj series, book 1 opens in Rawalpindi and book 2 opens with scenes in Bombay. The publisher calls it a YA series, then listed it under magical realism. Beats me.

All is well with Lise and yours truly. I didn’t realize you now hang your hat in Florida.

Best wishes,
JR
J.R. Seeger I am returning to the MIKE4 saga after two steampunk books. I have plot lines for at least two more Steampunk Raj stories, but wanted to get back to the 21st century for a bit.
J.R. Seeger I know very little about my grandparents. They died when I was young as did my parents. They were immigrants coming to the US from Europe at the turn of the last century.
J.R. Seeger Ed, Lise reads the books while in progress and provides guidance on where the stories need work. I doubt you will see her review here because by the time the book is through the formal editing process and published, she is definitely through with it.

J.R. Seeger My books are a series about characters in the post 9/11 counterterrorism effort. Many of them are very close to my friends and my own experience. I have made many of my characters women in the military and the intelligence community because I found most thrillers still assume that the “action hero” must be a man. It was certainly not my experience, so I thought it was appropriate to make the main character a woman.

The fact that my main character is a wounded warrior is based on having served with a wounded warrior. I never knew he was a below the knee amputee until one day he decided to tell/show me. He had just decided that he was not going to quit and not going to leave the fight. That was enough for me to want to tell a story with that sort of character.
J.R. Seeger I believe I fall into the category of “aspiring writer” as well. I think the best advice I received was to “just do it.” If you have an idea, outline the idea (storyboard) and then write some part of the story you really want to tell. It doesn’t have to be the beginning of the story. Just write. Over time, you will get better. I hope that is the case for me.
J.R. Seeger I simply write every day. Most days, the product is not worth reading, but some days the material comes easy enough. The real point is to write every day as practice and then hope for the best.
