Goodreads asked J.R. Seeger:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

J.R. Seeger My books are a series about characters in the post 9/11 counterterrorism effort. Many of them are very close to my friends and my own experience. I have made many of my characters women in the military and the intelligence community because I found most thrillers still assume that the “action hero” must be a man. It was certainly not my experience, so I thought it was appropriate to make the main character a woman.

The fact that my main character is a wounded warrior is based on having served with a wounded warrior. I never knew he was a below the knee amputee until one day he decided to tell/show me. He had just decided that he was not going to quit and not going to leave the fight. That was enough for me to want to tell a story with that sort of character.
