Dear readers
I had an interesting experience some years ago while training to obtain my commercial pilot license. I was preflighting the aircraft when I became aware of being watched. Turning around I saw as clear as day an older man standing at the propeller. He was dressed like an aviation engineer. His gaze was intense. Then he disappeared into thin air. Upon inspection of the propeller I noticed a minute defect in one of the blades. The mystery remains as to why he appeared to me and whether he had tried to warn other pilots flying that aircraft. I am sure that encounter could be weaved into a ghost story.
Thanks for asking and hope you stay safe and well.

I am a psychiatrist working in a large public hospital, which also has a psychiatric unit. I was asked to attend a meeting in one of the older sections of the general hospital, which was used infrequently. I felt quite distracted during the meeting, by the cool air and sinister vibe in the large room. On my way home the general idea of a ghost story came to mind, but it took a few weeks before I started writing down ideas for a plot and characters.

I used to write short stories as a young girl. Then for many years didn't consider it, until my father began writing after he retired from work (aged 70). He planted the seed by getting me to read his work and give feedback. It was three years later that I began getting ideas for a story while on holiday in Alaska (2017). I would jot down ideas on scraps of paper, eventually a story emerged. I find that the ideas come when I am most relaxed ( with a busy work schedule I don't go on vacation often, but work out daily, so usually after the rush of endorphins after a power walk, an idea may float into my conscious mind).

I have just finished my third book Vestige which will be available soon (published by Tellwell), but am writing some short stories which is part of what I do in my writers group. A topic is chosen by the coordinator of the group and a story of no more than 750 words is to be produced and subsequently read out to the others attending to get constructive feedback. I am hoping that by the end of 2020 I may have enough for a fourth book of short stories. It's important to learn from other writers (and its a nice social gathering) so joining a writers group is also a recommendation I'd make to aspiring writers.

If you feel that you have a story to tell, write it and get it published. You are a creative creature and will grow personally through the process. Self publishing with a reputable Publishing House is fun and a great learning exercise. You may make some mistakes along the way, but it doesn't matter as long as the end result of your work is accomplished and you are happy with it.
Remember, that writing and publishing should be a personal pleasure and if you keep that in mind without getting bogged down with the worry " Will I be successful? Who will buy my book?' You'll find things will fall into place.

My favourite thing about being a writer is to be able to create something from start to finish using a variety of ideas some of which are based on my own acquired knowledge of my journey in life. To be able to reach an audience and entertain though the written word is personally very rewarding, however I write for my own pleasure. The fact that others have enjoyed and encouraged me to continue after my first book, has been a pleasant surprise.

The first thing is accept and acknowledge that it will happen at some stage. I have experienced it early on when writing my first book Foresight. So, I allowed myself top step back from the story and didn't write for almost a month. In doing this my imaginative side was restored by listening to classical music and being in a more relaxed state my mind wandered and by itself conjured up imagery that I could use for the plot. It happened to a lesser extent in my third book Vestige in the planning stage of how I was going to tell the story.

I guess that I'd go on the Santa Cruise ( by Mary & Carol Higgins Clarke) and play a sleuth behind the scenes of what is really unfolding, and then towards the end team up with the main character to save the day.
