What is this inspiration thing I keep hearing about?
Seriously, I can't wait for inspiration. That would suggest the planets have aligned, I don't have other responsibilities, and my husband made my coffee- that doesn't happen. I have limited time available as I don't write full time. I make time to write and I use it. Sometime I don't "feel" like doing it because all sorts of reasons. Still, like many other things, once I get going, I get into it- and I'm glad I did it once I'm done.

I get writer's block when I have a story snarl that I haven't reconciled yet. At least my unconscious knows there is a snarl, even if my conscious mind wants to keep trucking along. I've found I can't push the resolution. It works best for me to have a side project I can switch over to when I'm blocked on my main one. It keeps me working, productive, and positive. The side project is usually a completely different style of writing or genre. Most of the time, the snarl works itself out in the background and a I have an epiphany a couple of days down the line. Voila! Then I pop back over to my #1.
