David Ward Hi Amy. I'm so sorry to be so very late answering. Yes. "Finding Mercy" is a fairly gentle mystery book. I hope you enjoy it. It's on Kindle and Kindle Unlimited as well as Amazon paperback.

Best wishes,

David Ward
David Ward Thanks for your question Ross. Sorry for my delay answering, I'm just getting my next book out.
I write away, and do a first edit as I go. But I do several more when the book's completed. By the end, I guess I've been through eight times in total. But I try to edit in such a way that the energy of the original draft doesn't get lost along the way. I go for grammatical correctness, but not if it detracts from the passion I wanted the story to convey.
Does that help? Hope so.
David Ward I think I'd just like to slip into any community that loves and accepts people for what they are. That's one reason I love Suzie Carr's books - I'd be happy living with any of her main characters.
David Ward That's an interesting question. My next book takes as its starting point a picture I found and keep returning to as my laptop background. 'Ribbons' comes largely out of my own life experiences with many extras that I'd like to have had for myself.
David Ward I take the marginalised people and their issues and try to work with that. I've always worked in community affairs, usually on the painful front-line. It's a costly place to be, but needs to be represented in my view. However, it's not all doom and gloom there. While working for the UK's National Health Service, I found that I'd never laughed and cried so much during the rest of my life.
David Ward Right now I'm involved in publicising 'Ribbons'. Next I'm looking at another story around marginalised people and how they are treated and mistreated by their society. I see that as a thread in my writing that I'd like to work with. I'll also be aiming to show something of life's hidden wonders.
David Ward Write - simple as that, almost. First of all though think about your own life experiences, and wonder what they've shown you. That could well be the basis of your first book. Try to be / become reflective. And have fun. Enjoy writing.
David Ward Ah, just one best thing? Then it would be using my imagination to help stimulate others and encourage people who are marginalised. But there's so many good things about being a writer.
David Ward I like to walk and breath fresh air. Back in my study, I free-write about a random idea or starting with a random word. After that I reckon to relax, go to bed and wake up the next day and check myself out again.
David Ward Right now I'm reading 'Where The Crawdads Sing' by Delia Owens. Amongst others, I'll be re-reading 'The Pet Boutique' by Suzie Carr, and I'd like to read more from Rachel Abbott and Tess Gerritsen.
