It looks like I've spent my life re-inventing myself. After too many years of office work in London local government I studied theology and became a parish priest in the Southampton area from 1983.
I then moved into health care chaplaincy in a busy south London acute hospital trust.
In between times, I've also sung semi-professionally in London and Spain, and have had short stories published in the UK and Spain.
Now I have two books published - "Ribbons" (2020) and "Finding Mercy" (2021).
And my interests? Reading, cricket, travel, interesting food, most music, and anything that might take my fancy.
I mostly read crime and thrillers, but I like autobiographies and history too.

Thanks for your question Ross. Sorry for my delay answering, I'm just getting my next book out.
I write away, and do a first edit as I go. But I do several more when the book's completed. By the end, I guess I've been through eight times in total. But I try to edit in such a way that the energy of the original draft doesn't get lost along the way. I go for grammatical correctness, but not if it detracts from the passion I wanted the story to convey.
Does that help? Hope so.(less)

Julian of Norwich
“And in this he showed me a little thing, the quantity of a hazel nut, lying in the palm of my hand, as it seemed. And it was as round as any ball. I looked upon it with the eye of my understanding, and thought, ‘What may this be?’ And it was answered generally thus, ‘It is all that is made.’ I marveled how it might last, for I thought it might suddenly have fallen to nothing for littleness. And I was answered in my understanding: It lasts and ever shall, for God loves it. And so have all things their beginning by the love of God.

In this little thing I saw three properties. The first is that God made it. The second that God loves it. And the third, that God keeps it.”
