Even More News
Hi,
I love blogging here, but there's more.
Check out my "David Ward, Author" Facebook page. There I share news about my own books and short stories, come up with some quotes that relate to reading and writing, add in some book and author recommendations - anything in fact that just might be fun and relate to our love of reading.
"Friend" me there too. See you here and on Facebook too.
Best wishes,
David Ward

Taking The High Road
Hi everyone. A little while ago I recorded an interview. Suzie Carr asked me questions on "Taking The High Road".
It's now available for everyone to hear on Suzie's Website "Curves Welcome."
Hope you enjoy it and get a word or two of wisdom out of it.
And to all of my friends in the USA - happy 4th July.

Do You Like Crime?
Hi,
Well, do you like crime? The crime genre that is. Well, if you do, how about giving J.D. Kirk's books a look?
They're based in Scotland, around Inverness. And J.D. Kirk has an easy sense of humour that runs through his books. Try his website too, there's even some freebies there.
I'm on the third of his DCI Jack Logan series. They're easy reading, nothing too technical, and move at a pace. They're not overlong either. And the brim over with great characters in Logan's team.
Talk again soon, stay well,
David Ward

"Finding Mercy" Goes to Spain
Some great news - "Finding Mercy" is being read for review in Spain's top English language television guide, TV Choice.
On top of that, it's entered into the 2021 UK Kindle Storyteller Contest.
In the meantime I've got some vague thoughts about another book. But for a while I'll be going back into writing short stories. I'm just finishing one called "Menu Of The Day." It's definitely in the horror genre, and is so unlike "Finding Mercy" which is a fairly gentle mystery.
More news soon. Stay well.

Now It's In Print
There's nothing quite like the day an author receives their author's copies of their latest book. That day for me was yesterday.
Somehow it doesn't feel quite real until it's there in black and white.
I'm sending copies of Finding Mercy to a few people who have been involved in some way or other in its production. I hope they review it and enjoy reading it.

Finding Mercy in paperback
All the writing, all the editing, all the liaison - everything is now completed.
"Finding Mercy" is out there, and that feels so good.
Now I need to turn to publicising it.
I can also start thinking about what I hope turns out to be my third book. And I want to be writing some short stories too.
It's funny though. I feel that I made friends almost with the characters in "Finding Mercy." Leaving them feels something like a bereavement.

Finding Mercy
Well, Finding Mercy is out now on Kindle. And I'm waiting for it to go "live" as a paperback.
I'm feeling very happy with it. There's some interesting characters in there.
What's it about? Well, here's the blurb from the back page:
Did the events in Beth O’Reilly’s nightmare really happen?
Or is it all just a dream?
Someone wants her to remember the past.
Someone blames her for a tragedy that happened long ago.
And that someone must be stopped before Beth is harmed.
Or even killed.
As Beth uncovers the truth about herself and her dreams,
her life changes forever.
Hope you enjoy it! I certainly loved writing it.

Finding Mercy
Hi everyone.
I'm delighted to be announcing that my next book "Finding Mercy" is now in its final editing stages and will soon be published.
The last fifteen months have been crazy, we all know that. So I'm reckoning that "Finding Mercy" will help to add some joy to the lives of readers.
I'll share more soon.

Exciting Times
In about a week's time I'm due to receive my author's copies of my book 'Ribbons' in paperback.
It's great to see it in Kindle, and that's where I read most of the books I buy.
But oh how I look forward to actually handling 'Ribbons'. I guess it's something like giving birth, and wanting to see and touch the new-born. Not long to wait.

The First Time Around
What an amazing mix of emotions I'm having now I've got my first novel 'Ribbons' published.
There's lots of excitement of course at seeing my work out there.
And there's relief at getting through the whole process for the first time.
Add to that the joy of making new friends along the way.
Then there's bereavement - I won't be meeting my characters again, and I actually miss them.
And the challenges of publicising 'Ribbons' and at the same time looking forward to forming ideas for my next novel.
I'd love to know how other authors felt the first time around.
