I get inspired by obscure news stories or odd trivia. But I am also inspired by the people watching my husband and I like to do when we are out to dinner or having a drink at the bar. We try to figure out situations and possible stories, and the longer we observe, the more outlandish the story becomes. It has always been a hobby of ours, but over the years, it has added to my internal story bank.

I worked in the IT department at the local school district where I also was a substitute teacher. During the summer, I worked alone mostly updating student iPads, teacher laptops, WiFi access points, etc. Pippa’s story started to formulate in my brain while I was pushing around carts of iPads and laptops through the darkened hallways of the empty school buildings.
