Amanda Innes It's not my first novel, actually. It is my second YA novel; the first is no longer in print because it was meant to be a series but was never finished. I got the rights back from the publisher, but I don't want to republish it until I've finished the whole series.

Right now I'm working on two more books. I've had questions about more of Julian and Jade, but I doubt I would do a sequel. However, I might do an anthology of stories about some of the secondary characters (Miss Radge, Captain Tarkington, Deke & Jeri, and Blevins & MacAllister.)
Amanda Innes Well, it wasn't in my life, and I think it was already the basis of a book and/or TV show, but... my dad's cousin (if I remember rightly--cousin by marriage) was found murdered in a sugar cane field in Louisiana, and that was never solved. Actually, my grandmother was also shot and killed in her home, and though the police ruled it a suicide, the family never believed it because she was terrified of guns and didn't have any.
Amanda Innes I've been writing so long (and I'm so old) that I started out with Microsoft Works. I still mostly use Word and/or Google Docs. I've tried Scrivener, and I've used Campfire a little bit, and I like both, but they are more complicated than I really need. When outlining (mine actually look more like flowcharts), I still use pen and paper. I find that faster, both to write and reference, than trying to input stuff into computer apps.
Amanda Innes There are a few ways I approach writer's block. I may switch from typing on the computer to writing longhand. I may switch from one WIP to another. Or I may stop writing and go work on a puzzle or painting.
Amanda Innes Living many lives in one lifetime.

Also, flexible schedule.
Amanda Innes To not listen to too much advice! Honestly, fear that you're doing it "wrong" can paralyze you. I always encourage those who want to write to just write--get the story out. *Then* go back and fix it via rewrites and edits. But for that first draft? Just get it out without worrying about how good it is.
Amanda Innes I have a story on Kindle Vella that is what I think of as equal parts THE GREAT GATSBY, THE SECRET HISTORY and MERLIN.
Amanda Innes Music is a big part of my inspirational process. If and when a song strikes me just right, it can be a great launching point for a new story or book.
