Bev Vincent It's not a book world, but a TV world -- Ted Lasso-land! I would just enjoy the positive energy and Roy's colorful vocabulary.
Bev Vincent I am revising a novel I wrote 10 years ago.
Bev Vincent I was inspired by a playlist supplied to me by Brian Keene! The book is called Dissonant Harmonies and my novella is "The Dead of Winter." It was also inspired by the story of the prodigal son, Hunter S. Thompson and Franklin W. Dixon!
Bev Vincent My Heart Is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones
Daughter of the Morning Star by Craig Johnson
Silverview by John Le Carré
Bev Vincent I almost always have several different projects under way at the same time, some of them fiction and some non-fiction. When I can't figure out to do with one of them (usually fiction), I switch gears and work on something else until inspiration strikes.
Bev Vincent My strongest advice is to not be in a hurry to get published. Don't cut corners. Most stories don't have an expiration date. I've had stories published in pro markets that were originally written 30+ years ago. Aim high, always--don't sell your work short. Don't be seduced by "exposure only" markets. If you don't have an audience yet, an exposure-only publication won't do anything for you.
Bev Vincent I've always read a lot, but I think it was NIGHT SHIFT, Stephen King's first short story collection, that really lit my fire to write short stories. I had written a couple of stories when I was in Jr. High, and I even tried my hand at writing a novel, but when I was in university I wrote a couple of dozen stories that were clearly inspired by King's stories.
