Bryan Cole No. I need way more than two sentences.
Bryan Cole For me, absolutely it was the editing process. The initial draft writing process was fun, and let me spill ideas onto the page, but the editing... that was tremendously rewarding. Both my own self-edits (of which I did at least 20 full edits, not counting all the little ones in between - which would jump the number to over 100).

For me the editing process allowed me to take the ideas from the initial draft and polish them, add nuance, and really develop the story with connections between the events, tying everything together. I loved it.

But the professional edits were so much better! Fresh eyes that could see past my own assumptions was tremendously rewarding, both the good and the bad.

Definitely do your own edits a number of times before going to a professional - it lets them focus more on the story without being distracted by the grammar and spelling issues that an initial draft might have!
Bryan Cole That's easy - the earth showcased in Peter Hamilton's Dreaming Void book series. I'd get the free uplift to being a higher human.
Bryan Cole Don't be afraid to write. The first draft of Beginning of Arrogance was what I would charitably call "a hot mess", before I edited it, then edited it again, then edited it again... and then 15 more times. Then it went to a professional editor, then I edited it at least five more times!

But that story... it exists because I just wrote. It didn't matter that there were inconsistencies, grammar and spelling errors, and plot holes you could sail a ship through - that's what editing is for. Just write, and let go of any fear you might have.

The joy I feel holding my book in my hand is very hard to describe, and makes it all worth it :)
Bryan Cole Book 2! Krell and his companions face the rising tide of the threat from the sea, while at the same time people take notice of Krell, particularly the young women in town...
