I absolutely love being a writer. How can I summarize the "best thing" about being a writer? To me, being a writer is sharing a piece of my soul with the world. It is an act of love and service. I think the best thing about being a writer is that I help people escape into a world of possibility.
I love my imagination and I love creativity. I love to surprise myself with what comes to me. I love, love, love to get wrapped up in the emotions the characters are feeling and to see the scent in my imagination. I love to see the characters struggling and working through their issues. I love to see the conflict between two characters and how that conflict plays out. I love how what I write causes my readers to feel emotions, inspires them, and gives them a new perspective. I love that I am providing entertainment and in some small way, making a difference in the world.

My advice for aspiring writers is to just do it and let go of judgment. Write what comes to you and capture it all. Then in the editing process, you can bring in your analytical thinking and cut out, move around, re-write, etc... Any time you are stuck, challenge yourself to write something unlikely to happen at that point in the story. The point isn't to solve the problem but to get into flow and creativity.

I am working on the sequel to The Birth Challenge, which is a saga - a continuation of a story. It is soooo much fun to write it. I love what unfolds as I write not understanding how the dots are connected until hindsight. There is a lot of trust in my writing. The sequel is steamy at times but also a torment of wanting what you can't have.

Inspiration is always there like creativity. It only takes a walk in nature, a drive where my mind wanders, or a few minutes of sitting bored for ideas to come to me. As far as inspiration for writing, I've always liked to write. In my youth, I loved poetry. I took all sorts of creative writing classes. I find writing to be therapeutic. When it comes to writing, I let whatever come to me, come to me. I remove judgment and I capture ideas much the same as a business person would brainstorm a problem. It's a flow then and it creates an allowing or a path for ideas to come to me.

The Birth Challenge came to me during the time I was furloughed and as I wondered why the characters do such a thing or how they would respond, the story unfolded. Images floated to my consciousness and how the characters would feel came to me. When I went back to work, I put this story like all the other ones, to the side. But I was drawn to this story and I found purpose in writing it.
