Lynn Emery In the early 19th century, we lost a branch of the family when an ancestor had to flee into the woods of mostly unsettled Louisiana. He had pressed his claim to his white father's inherited land. As a Black man, he was going to be lynched for daring to defend his rights under his father's will. The local sheriff was leading the mob. I'd love to know what he changed his name to and what happened to him.
Lynn Emery She stood and his blood dripped down her chin. The crunch of her enemy's bones beneath her feet made her smile.
Lynn Emery Lands of the Elves in Tolkien's fictional world. It looks so peaceful and safe. I'd just write prose all day and do good for others :)
Lynn Emery Storm of Locusts
The Language of Power
The Wolf Queen
Lynn Emery Short answer - yes! Louisiana is unique because of the mix of cultures and the history of how these cultures continue to influence the state today. Interestingly enough even though we're part of "The Bible Belt", that actually is compatible with the belief in spirits and the supernatural. Ghosts stories, legends of demons and voodoo curses aren't seen as outlandish nonsense to many.
