I get inspired by interacting with people; be it conversations, experiences, directly and indirectly, taking what I want from said situations and putting it down on paper. Other times, I pay attention to the goings on of the world around me, which includes my community and the happenings of others, regardless of whether I know the person or not. I seldom get inspired by other writers, but it does happen, and I am thankful for it. When I read a great piece by another poet, novelist, or even a singer/song writer, it pushes me to put more an effort forth in whatever it is that I'm doing at the time.

I am making preparations to write one final book of poems. I don't mean final in the literal sense, just final at this stage in the game.
I find that in order to write well, one must live and experience as much as possible, in order to have anything to draw from. Sure, you can write on the basis of memory recall, but after a time, one does run out of ideas, otherwise, there's a tendency to reiterate old ideas in a myriad of ways. I'm not saying that this is a bad thing, but after a time, the ideas and material become uninviting and unexciting for both the reader and the writer.
With that being said, I will be writing new material in the next while, with the hopes that book and the pieces therein, excite and inspire both readers and writers alike.

The best thing about being a writer, hmm, for me, it's a great number of things. First and foremost, writing has helped me to convey on paper what I was only able to speak of before. It helped me academically, with writing clearer, more concise reports, essays and the like.
It also served as a therapeutic medium, getting things out of my head and onto paper, so I wouldn't bog myself down with life's trivialities, so that I could focus on more important matters.
As a result, I became more aware of my voice, and continued mastering the craft, being sure to raise the bar each and every time I wrote a piece. Before I knew it, I always seemed to improve where needed, and had more than enough pieces with which to put a book together. Seeing the book in print, in addition to online (sometimes including eBooks), it gave and still gives me a great sense of accomplishment.

My recent book, Weathering Stone, was more of a transitional volume of writing. After having written, Murdering The Third, coupled with communique with literary magazines throughout Canada, I became discouraged and was on the verge of putting down my pen for good.
Having wanted to do a book of inspirational quotes for some time, I started tinkering around with a quote here and there. Based in part by people's reactions, I continued writing newer ones, and realized that I had enough to warrant a book. It was to inspire me, to see the good in all things, in hopes to motivate me once again to proceed with my writings, regardless of any opposition to the contrary. And you know what...it worked wonders.

Read as much as you can; regardless of the genre, and really live your life, as it is a great basis from which to write. And don't emulate the writings of others, your voice should be the only thing that shines through.

Sometimes I write through it, even it it's total gibberish, but most of the time I just leave whatever it is that I'm working on and do something else. I find that by taking some time out for my family, friends and/or myself does wonders to rejuvenate me.
