Thanks for asking, Cindy! My goal is to finish the romance I'm working on. I'm trying to follow the genre structure so it qualifies as a "real romance" as my other books are mixes of adventure/mystery with some romance, so it was hard to characterize them.
In this book, the main character is Liza, a side character in "Cinnamon Bourbon and Deception". She's a spunky entrepreneur. I can't wait to see how this turns out :)

I have quite a few; I love to read history and biographies as well as fiction. Some of my favorite authors include Doris Kearns Goodwin ("Team of Rivals"), Tom Clancy ("Sum of All Fears") and the classic -- Jane Austen ("Pride and Prejudice", "Sense and Sensibility").

One of my great aunts went to Europe, supposedly to trace family ancestry (this was in the early 60's). She came back and said she enjoyed the trip but never said anything else. I wondered what she found -- or who she met over there. Was it a mystery man or a skeleton in the family closet?

You never get bored :) There are always characters or new story lines to think about. Usually my characters have deep a deep backstory but not all of it gets into the final book. But musing about my characters helps keep them lifelike.

The book I'm currently working on is based on an event in "Unexpected Impact", the second book in the Scoops and Schemes Series. I was curious how an intimidating dictator would relate with the long lost daughter who he rescued from human traffickers. The book incorporates several new characters with their own quirks and emotional problems, including a lovely little orphan that has a propensity to take things apart. Watch for it!

There are many things that inspire me to write. It could be a bit of conversation overheard while standing in a line, an observation of someone's odd behavior, or a story a friend tells me. And sometimes I think of scenes or dialogs while trying to meditate, taking a walk or swimming.

Glad you agree, Ed! The lake is a good spot for thinking about anything. :)
As for how much I research, it depends on the subject. I sometimes "fall into" research -- for instance, for "The Essence" I read several books about Ataturk, the inspiration for the General's character, and it held up writing for months. I felt a bit paranoid about doing online searches for uranium mining in 2002, but I wanted to be accurate, even if it was just a detail. I'll also look up restaurants and interesting facts about locations, like the slide on the Great Wall of China. I'd rather visit the locations in person, but youtube is the next best thing to being there! Thanks for your interest.

I'm working on a new book and I'm excited to be in the final stages.
