A love of dogs, mystery, humour and my beautiful little hamlet of Gros Cap all combined to give me the idea for my latest book, "The Mattress Affair", the first in my Flint and Steele Mysteries.
I've always believed dogs are far more intelligent and clever than most people give them credit for, and I thought it would be fun to go inside the head of a dog detective and see how he would solve a mystery. And, I was right! It was a blast writing this book, and I can't wait to finish the second one in the series.

I am blessed (or, cursed) with a very active imagination and have been since I was a child. Often, ideas or characters or snippets of dialogue will suddenly pop into my head and I’ll have an “Aha!” moment that inspires me to turn those ideas into a novel. I’m an insatiable reader and enjoy losing myself in imaginary worlds, so I decided as a kid that I was going to create my own realms that other people could journey to as well.

I know this is cliché, but NEVER GIVE UP. There are people out there who want to read your stories as much as you want to write them. Don't let a few obstacles or rejections smother those creative juices in you that are just clamoring for release. But, you must also ensure that what you release to the discerning reading public is a polished work of art that has been painstakingly edited and tweaked until it positively shines. There is nothing that turns readers off more quickly than a story full of plot holes, spelling and grammatical errors, poorly developed characters, awkward and clunky sentence structure or dialogue, etc.
