I live in a small hamlet called Gros Cap just west of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada on the magnificent shore of Lake Superior. I've always been a voracious reader, even as a child, and that has inspired me to create my own fantasy worlds. There's nothing quite like seeing your imagination transformed into a published novel. When I'm not writing, I'm reading, doing challenging jigsaw puzzles, or enjoying the great outdoors with my hubby, my furry child and my camera. ...more

Don't let a few obstacles or rejections smother those creative juices in you that are just clamoring for release. But, you must also ensure that what you release to the discerning reading public is a polished work of art that has been painstakingly edited and tweaked until it positively shines. There is nothing that turns readers off more quickly than a story full of plot holes, spelling and grammatical errors, poorly developed characters, awkward and clunky sentence structure or dialogue, etc.(less)

Often, ideas or characters or snippets of dialogue will suddenly pop into my head and I’ll have an “Aha!” moment that inspires me to turn those ideas into a novel. I’m an insatiable reader and enjoy losing myself in imaginary worlds, so I decided as a kid that I was going to create my own realms that other people could journey to as well.(less)

John Cheever

“Reading is the sole means by which we slip, involuntarily, often helplessly, into another's skin, another's voice, another's soul.”
Joyce Carol Oates

“And that's why books are never going to die. It's impossible. It's the only time we really go into the mind of a stranger, and we find our common humanity doing this. So the book doesn't only belong to the writer, it belongs to the reader as well, and then together you make it what it is.”

Cheryl Landmark If anyone is wondering why so many book reviews have been showing up on my updates lately, it's because I have been editing them to remove the comment "Review to come soon". :-) Some of them date back to 2014, so I think "soon" is probably not very accurate any more!

Linda Martin Thanks for accepting my friend request, Cheryl! I've been wanting to make new writing friends here on Goodreads.

I joined this site a long time ago but am just now getting into it more at the suggestion of a friend.

I've been through Sault Ste. Marie in Canada... that was back in 1972. You live in a beautiful place!! I was on my way to see a total eclipse of the sun from Cap Chat, Quebec.

Cheryl Landmark Christine wrote: "How long have you been writing books?"

Since I was a kid in elementary school! :) Although back then, it was more poetry and short stories. Then, in my teens, I started writing longer novels. For many, many years, it was strictly a hobby because I simply loved to write stories and never really tried seriously to get published. In 2009, I had my first book published by a local POD publishing company, which was such a total thrill. Now, I have three books published and I'm still floating on cloud 9!

Christine Hatfield How long have you been writing books?

Christine Hatfield Thanks for being my friend

Victoria Limbert Hey :)

Thanks for accepting my invite and thank you for adding my book to your wish list. I am happy to tell you that Lilith is available Via LuLu in paperback :) I understand your feelings with kindle, I much prefer a solid book in my hands, but I am forced to use it to be able to read the books I love lol! :)

Thank you
