So glad that you enjoyed it! The sequel is written and contract signed with publisher. I don't have exact release date yet from them but will post on social media and let the Dundas paper know as well when I do.

I wanted to write a book for my daughter with a female heroine who saved the world using her intelligence. I started to think about what she would be up against and climate change seemed like a great challenge. I learned about that and started to think about who the other characters in the book would be, what their strengths and weaknesses are and how they relate to the heroine.

I get ideas for stories from things I have heard, seen or read. Whatever it is I just find I am always asking questions about it in my head, mostly why? Why did that happen? Why did this person do that? Sometimes the how- how would it feel if...? how would this play out differently? I have written several short stories based on these questions. For a full length novel I find I have to be so deeply emotionally invested in the question that I can't stop thinking about it. In that situation writing becomes a release for me.

Often, but not always, exercise helps. I find walking, jogging or running on a treadmill good because I don't have to pay too much attention to what I am doing (just enough so that I don't fall and embarrass myself at the gym). I can't always figure out what to write if I am looking at it head on but by exercising I can sometimes catch a glimpse of what I want to write out of the corner of my eye.

Just do it! Keep trying, keep writing, keep your mind open to learning new things as you go and most importantly keep enjoying the process!

I have total control over everything that happens in my story which is so opposite to real life.

I am working on the first draft of my next novel. This is definitely the fun part. Given how many drafts Code Blue went through (don't ask I have seriously lost count) I know I am just at the beginning now but I know I will enjoy the journey.
