Hmmm...apologies for not answering this 2 years ago—I just only now saw it! So the answer today will be different than it would have been back then.
The idea for my most recent book rose quite slowly. It birthed out of the countless FB discussions I have on a daily basis with a very large field of friends. Concurrently, it birthed out of the real-time experiences I was having of my own inner transformation, and an impulse to try and record my entire process. The result? My latest offering, just released this month:
"Raindrops Of Love For A Thirsty World."
I hope you enjoy it!

GREAT question! (Sorry it took so long for me to respond. Didn't realize these questions were hanging out here.)
What inspires me to write? That's a pretty easy question for me to answer. The inner realizations that I have all the time serve as the foundational source of my own inspiration. Because I am open to new ideas and heretical propositions, I gather information constantly. And as I painstakingly piece together the brilliant, yet limited, perspectives of countless others across multiple disciplines, something magical happens within me. Suddenly, I "see" a fuller, richer, more holistic image of reality than I was able to see before.
And then I write from that place.

I'm just now realizing people have asked me questions in the past that I didn't answer. So...belatedly, here I am!
My advice for aspiring writers? TRUST yourself. Be open to new insights and ideas that arise, and don't bind yourself to existing writing dogma. Have the courage to start; don't allow your fears to dissuade you. Have compassion for yourself as you toil silently in solitude and wonder if anyone will care, or if what you are doing has any merit whatsoever. Be kind to yourself when you realize you've fallen short. Be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day, and writing a good book takes exactly as long as it takes—no more, no less. And above all, be peaceful in your endeavor. Don't try to force your viewpoint onto the larger world. Allow it to present itself in a way that naturally magnetizes attention. It'll reach the people it is supposed to reach. See? In the end, it all comes back around to basic trust!
Good luck to you.

Right now I'm deep into "Sapiens." It's a marvelous deconstruction of human evolution. Next up on my list is a book called, "The Act of Will." Beyond that, I'm not sure, since we've got a new grandbaby coming in at the end of this month! Thanks for asking.

For me, the best thing about being a writer is that I get to explore the ideas I'm passionate about, and learn as I go. It's a lifelong process of self-discovery and inner transformation.

My current project is a book titled, "Dreaming Utopia: A Vision for a Sacred Society."
The book focuses on examining all of our existing social systems with an eye toward infusing them with an innate reverence for life, based on the realization that everything is interconnected and inter-being.
