Excellent question Diana-Fia and apologies for the delay in response. I'm in the process of republishing the kindle version of Birthright (about a week or 2) so hopefully that will be available as soon as possible. You could still read book 2 and make sense out of it without reading book 1, but if you want to wait I completely understand. Thanks for reaching out, and I like your enthusiasm for book 2. Ohh and please, for future reference, I'm just a Barry!

The plan for Dangermaze was plotted out long before I wrote the book. I wanted to make sure it would connect the way I wanted with the earlier books. However the elements within the book are just a sum of random thoughts over time (I wish that sounded better). I have a habit where if I ever think of something that I feel is interesting, I write it down. These ideas go on to form the basis of many elements in my books. In Dangermaze, places like the world of pain, the world of honesty or the world of anger were all things I wondered how they would work if they actually existed. That’s probably one of the most enjoyable parts of writing; you get to answer your own questions. Though the downside is that what you come up has to be pretty compelling, otherwise you won’t even believe your own story.

There are two things that help me avoid writers block. The first is planning. Before I even start writing I have plotted out what will happen in each chapter and with each character. I have a lot of admiration for writers that can just sit down and write but unfortunately I’m not in that group. I need to know how everything is going to tie together and make sense at the end. The second element that helps is my writing speed… It’s very slow, which means even if I ever did hit a creative barrier, I would hit it very slowly.
