Kale Lawrence I used to use Word, but now I use a program called Living Writer. It's a lot like Scribner where you can easily reorder your chapters, include notes, cast of characters, photo inspo, and more. I'd highly recommend it to writers wanting to keep all their writing-related items in one place.
Kale Lawrence The Magi Menagerie was written to be savored. It's got a lot of world building with Easter eggs and clues sprinkled throughout and if you read it too fast, you'll lose a lot of that. Honestly, I'd say it's medium-paced but the sequel, The Magi Manifesto goes a lot faster.
Kale Lawrence I was literally waiting in line in Disney World when I came up with a vague outline of what Alex in Wunderstrande eventually became. I knew I wanted this story to have heavy steampunk undertones with a plot that kept you guessing. Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" and 30 Seconds to Mars' "This is War" also heavily inspired the feel of the story.
Kale Lawrence Music definitely helps, but my inspiration of choice is going to see a good film in theaters. There's just something about experiencing a story on a big screen while simultaneously taking in the audience's reactions to it. This mixture of atmosphere puts me in the perfect mood to write.
Kale Lawrence Typically, I go for a walk and listen to a playlist consisting of songs that make me think of my story or inspirational, orchestral music. This lulls my brain to a place where I can reset and refocus.
Kale Lawrence While I love being able to share my story with others, I love connecting with readers at events. It makes for a more tangible experience and totally beats just sitting on the couch, writing on my laptop.
Kale Lawrence Do your best to silence your inner critic as well as those around you. While taking constructive criticism is all part of the game, your writing should be irrevocably you...representing your voice, your aspirations, your fears, in an authentic way. Your critics aren't telling the story. You are.
Kale Lawrence I'm currently working on the sequel to The Clairvoyance Clock, which is titled Alex in Wunderstrande: The Pulsar Collective.

I'm also working on a freaking sweet graphic novel project, currently untitled. I can't wait to share more with you all!
