I was literally waiting in line in Disney World when I came up with a vague outline of what Alex in Wunderstrande eventually became. I knew I wanted this story to have heavy steampunk undertones with a plot that kept you guessing. Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" and 30 Seconds to Mars' "This is War" also heavily inspired the feel of the story.
