It's not a weird question at all. I always have an actor in mind. I picture Hades as David Giuntoli from the second season of Grim. I was writing Persephone when that aired and there's a moment in that season when something happened to his wife and he got super dark and creepy and protective, and that completely changed my approach to Hades. I wish I could remember the episode.

I prefer in person. You'll want to visit and get a feel for the members. You want to be about the middle to lower end of experience level compared to the other members. You can generally find groups near you by searching sites like meetup, band, facebook events, and your city or state writing association :)

Thank you! To answer your question, I'm not sure. There's been a few delays on another project I'm writing (think Sailor Moon meets Once Upon a Time, I'm super excited) and with writing in general while I try to tackle teaching during a pandemic. But as soon as I have an update, I'll post it everywhere :)

I have not, but I’ll be sure to check them out

Thank you so much! I hope they do, too! I

I'm so glad you enjoyed my books :).
I was inspired to write Persephone when I saw a preview for the remake of Clash of the Titans. It was something about the phrase "Damn the gods," that got me thinking about the Persephone myth, and how it's always felt incomplete to me, but I didn't want to write a horror story or an unhealthy romance, ergo, Hades had to be a good guy. The Hades/Persephone series is the first trilogy, after that, I spin off to Aphrodite's trilogy, but the two are still active characters and have cameos or POV chapters. I anticipate that will continue when I get around to writing the next trilogy.
The best book I've read this year... I can't remember if this was early this year or late last year, but I LOVED The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black. It was truly amazing.
As for my advice to aspiring authors, join a writers group and listen to them. Even if you don't agree with their advice, you'll be getting a preview of what your reviews will look like if you keep the book unchanged. Every slight negative review I've ever had has been something brought up in writers group that I was able to take the time and weigh the needs of the story against the perception of the readers and decide whether or not I wanted to let it play out the same way or change. Making a choice with intention is always better than getting surprised by someone's interpretation.

Hogwarts of course! I'd learn all the magic!

I've actually got a phone call with my editor scheduled about that for Friday. Right now, I'm leaning more toward an Otrera/Artemis story dealing with that spoilerific thing that happened at the end of Venus Rising. Medea will be a character, but I'm not sure she'll be a POV character.

I'm trying to catch up on classics I missed (bad English major), writing books, and books by the team at Writing Excuses. Right now I'm reading 1984, and beyond that whatever catches my eye.

When I was little, I heard my neighbors fighting, heard gun shots, and then nothing. Months passed. Their grass grew tall and their cars never came home. One day, because I was young and stupid, I decided to head into their house and investigate myself. The place looked like they'd packed and left in a hurry. Some things were left half done. Eventually I learned the two had gone through a nasty divorce and both halves of the couples left, assuming the other had stayed at the house.

Oh, that's a hard one. I'd have to say Wesley and Buttercup from The Princess Bride.

Your English is far better than my Italian. Persephone and Hades have cameos and play important roles in Aphrodite's trilogy. Aphrodite is the main character but there are no shortage of familiar faces :)

Thank you!
Medusa is available in the newest edition of Persephone (on sale for .99 cents), Triton- Iron Queen. and Melissa- Daughter of Earth and Sky.
If you have the first edition ebooks, Amazon may allow you to update.
There are plans to do a Daughters of Zeus anthology involving those shorts along with other stories. But that's going to be at minimum 2 years out because Melissa and an extended version of Medusa have been invited to participate in different anthologies (release dates TBD)

I've always been really interested in the Greek myths. But what really got me thinking about Persephone was, of all the random things, that Clash of the Titans trailer that came out around 2008-2009. Something about the phrase "damn the gods" caught my attention, and I started thinking about the god who'd been most damned. Persephone. It's a myth I'd heard over and over again in school, but something about it felt unfinished to me. So I wrote my own.

Theatrical trailers tend to be a great starting point for me. They'll plant the seeds for an idea that twists into something entirely different than the movie. I also do a lot of driving since we live so far out of town, and on those drives I'll be thinking through scenes and talking through the dialogue. Once I get home it's just a matter of putting what I said out loud down on paper.

Perspective. When I read a book, watch a movie, or enjoy any other form of story, I'm not just watching the story unfold. I know what goes into it so I kind of dissect it? It sounds like it would ruin the fun, but I really enjoy picking apart stories and chatting through what worked, what didn't, and what I would do differently. Don't go to movies with writers if you can help it.

I just force myself to write. Sometimes it takes a while to slog through, but generally once I have something on the page to edit, I'm good. The thing I have to deal with more often than writer's block is edit loops. I'll get so stuck on revising the chapters I've already written and making changes and getting it perfect, that the new stuff I write looks terrible in comparison, which makes it hard to stay motivated.
