Weirdly, I only write when I've run out of things to read, or have issues with what I've been reading...

Write. Just start writing... And writing what you know... All you know...
You can and will fix what you write countless times in the future, so jump into the moment and just write... Let it all out... Then work on answering all the questions what you've written has raised.

This is a good one for me. Cause I am a former journalist, so I have coping mechanisms to meet deadlines and ensure constant productivity.
I have a sliding scale of writing productivity. If I feel I'm not currently in my creative pants, I edit. If I'm too hungover myself for that, I spell-check or use the excellent browser add-on app LanguageTool to find missing commas, em-dashes etc.
If I'm mega slack I come on sites like this, or Reddit, Royal Road or even wore Scribophile and waste time... Interacting with humans... No future in it...

I'm currently working on networking or in my case not-working, but story wise I'm halfway through Orphan Jak the Mayhap Jak sequel in the Wolf Clan series.
There is enough already written material for at least another two books in that series.

The easy answer is from the preceeding book, as it's a sequel.
But the Junior Jianghu series idea I got from reading a hundred or more xianxia, xuanhuan and isekai and being dissatisfied by a bunch of tropes and tendencies within those genres.
Thus, the entire series can be seen as a Western revision of an Eastern genre, written by an idiot who can't take anything seriously for more than a second....
