Hi!
I think what each person perceives to be a "good" ending is different. I believe the ending of a love story, or any other story, should make sense for your characters and your story, and that is what will make it good. If the book is part of a series that will also play a part in the ending as there may be some cliffhangers and those things will be addressed in later books.

Hmmm . . . kind of tough question, at the moment I am only teaching preschool, although I have taught up to 6th grade, and I only substitute teach right now, however I still feel my answer is yes. Okay so preschoolers are really only going to be learning their name, but I think the basic principals of writing, at least my writing, still apply.
Plan first, I get the kids to think about their name and the letters and what those letters looks like.
Then work hard, it takes time and thought to complete a piece of writing whether it be a novel or your name.
Next keep trying and never give up, it will take you time to perfect your writing.
Practice, you only get better at something if you keep working on it.
Look back over your work, you see things you did well and things that you can improve.
And lastly enjoy, kids learn to write when they are motivated and enjoying it, the same thing is true for writing a book, if you love what you are doing it will show!

Hi! I have not taken any formal courses in creative writing, but I've always been interested in writing and was lucky enough to have a successful writer as a teacher in school one year and he gave me tons of useful advice. To write a book you need to have a really good idea of your story, including detailed three-dimensional characters, and then get to work on fleshing out that story idea, then get to work writing! With lots of practice, and lots of work, you'll get that first book written. Try not to get discouraged along the way, writing a book is a big challenge, but absolutely totally worth it!! And always keep reading, the more you read the better you understand storytelling!

Love your answer and I agree the story idea and three dimensional character is critical. One can always do independent type studying--when I am captivated by a story, I start doing a character study and paying attention to the descriptive language. It helps me to understand the story elements which I think is important in writing your own book. This strategy helped me with the writing of my own children's book. It helped me to describe the emotions with adjusting to adoption.

Hi Patti, certainly, I'm sending you an email right now!

Hi Beverly, I usually approach with either a phone call, email or in person visit, I explain a bit about me and my teaching history, the books and what I'm wanting to do, and if an email include links to the published books (two so far!) and things like the children's original stories. A lot of schools have their curriculum tightly packed so it can be difficult finding some that have space for you to come in and work with the kids, my hope is that through the wonders of technology I'll be able to work with schools not just in my local area (Melbourne, Australia) but also all over the world!

If you love writing so much you know you'd do it even if no one ever read a word then write and keep writing no matter what!

Doing what you love! And hopefully you can write a story that will bring some enjoyment to someone like the many books I love bring to me!

Often I procrastinate for a while and then when I realise that is not a viable solution to my problem I sit down and MAKE myself work through it!

I have so many ideas stored in my head (and in jotted down notes on my computer) from years of watching soap operas and every crime show I came across. Usually I have so many ideas that sometimes I want to be able to write books for all of them at once and have to make sure I slow myself down and stick to what I'm working on!

I am currently working on book 6 in my Count to Ten series, it is nearly finished though, only about twenty pages to go, then I will start working on book 7, which at the moment is nothing more than a jotted down note from a while back, so it will take a fair bit of work to flesh it out and make it into a whole story!
Jane Blythe
People often ask me this question and I usually say that I'm not really sure! Ideas just seem to come to me, sometimes I get so many that I'm disappointed I can't use them all at once! I think lots of years watching soap operas and every crime show I could find planted lots of seeds in my imagination!
