Catherine Chant Long ago, when I was a teenager, my BFF and I snuck out after midnight and were sitting by her garage in the pitch dark when we saw a guy (or at least a shadow that looked like a guy) coming down the middle of the street. It stopped in front of her house and then walked across the lawn and paused at her bedroom window, before slipping around the other side of the house and disappearing. It freaked us out enough that we ran to the house next door to hide, but to this day we don't know if it was real or just our imagination because we were into supernatural stuff back then. But I think something creepy along those lines, maybe a ghost story, maybe a prank gone wrong, would make a good plot for a book.
Catherine Chant How much time have you got? LOL. I could write a long essay on the thought process that lead to NOTHING STAYS THE SAME. The idea developed over a long period of time.

In short, I wanted to write about a decade I remembered vividly from my childhood--the 1970s. And since NOTHING STAYS THE SAME would be the follow-up to WISHING YOU WERE HERE and needed a music theme to fit with the series, I turned to my musical influences from that decade. Up at the top of the list were The Monkees and David Bowie.

I also wanted to pay a little homage to some of my favorite TV shows as a kid. Popular shows like "The Brady Bunch" and "The Partridge Family," but also shows that might be a little obscure, like "The Kids from C.A.P.E.R." and "The Bugaloos," that I've never forgotten.

So all that led me to create my own made-for-TV band, The Beat Detectors, and their Saturday morning TV show, "Goody Gumshoes." Both of which feature heavily in NOTHING STAYS THE SAME.

The rest is history, as they say. :-)
Catherine Chant Wow, that's a toughie. I've read *a lot* of romance books, but I think the couple that sticks most in my mind is Claire and Jamie from the Outlander series. Runner-up couple might be Damon and Elena from The Vampire Diaries (the TV show, not the books).
Catherine Chant I periodically post reviews of books I enjoy and I'm a regular book reviewer for Random House's Blogging for Books program, but I'm not a full-time reviewer. This resource may be helpful in finding professional book bloggers who review Christian novels: https://bookbloggerdirectory.wordpres... Good luck! :-)
Catherine Chant I'm currently finishing up the second book in my time travel series and working on revisions for a young adult mystery.
Catherine Chant Write. Write whatever your speaks to your heart. Write what you want to read. Don't worry about trends or what's popular. If it's a book you want to read, someone else will, too.
Catherine Chant Setting your own schedule. I don't have to worry about asking for time off when I have a dentist appointment or need to pick my son up early from school. I think not having to deal with the rush-hour commute anymore is a pretty good perk, too!
Catherine Chant I find music is a great way to break writer's block. Writer's block really boils down to not knowing what you want to write that day. I find listening to songs that in some way reflect the tone of what I'm writing (or the time period, since I work on a lot of time travels) helps me visualize new scenes, new interactions between characters.
