Karl J. Morgan That's a tough one. On the one hand, the Hogwarts School of Wizardry was amazing, but deadly. I suppose that is the same for the original TV Star Trek universe. I would like either one, unless Romulans or Voldemort were after me...
Karl J. Morgan I'd have to pick Al and Peggy Bundy from the television show "Married with Children". The comedic interplay between them and their children was constantly hilarious. Both characters were flawed, but their love for each other was always there, albeit hidden behind the façade of silliness.
Karl J. Morgan Not well, I must admit. I do write a lot, and sometimes when my mind is too messed up, I just succumb to the need to push it away and do something mindless instead, like watching TV or checking Facebook. But then, when I least expect it, the kernel of a new idea will blossom in my mind, maybe while I'm sleeping, or showering, or trying not to think about it. Suddenly, I'm pulled back in, and nothing matters more than writing it down.
Karl J. Morgan As a writer, you get to explore some of the stuff that's cluttering up your mind. For me, it's healing to get those things written down. For example, I am generally turned off by violence and horror stuff. When I started my newest story (Demonic), I decided to push myself to write something so terrifying that I would never read it. Well, it's almost ready for prime time, and I admit it is a monstrous tale, however, I now find some of those concepts infecting my other works. Interesting, right?
Karl J. Morgan Things are a bit crazy right now. I am editing book 3 of Modern Prophets, currently titled "Hand of God". Before that came back from proofreading, I started a new fantasy novel with the working title "Whistlestop". I am probably 80% to 90% finished with the rough draft. I entered NaNoWriMo again this year and got about 50% to 60% through book 4 of Modern Prophets (working title "Demonic"). I've taken a step back and am totally focused on finishing "Hand of God" first. The others will just have to wait, although I must confess I think about those stories all the time.
Karl J. Morgan That is a difficult question to answer. For me, it's all about a moment of inspiration. Some days, the words flow from my mind through the keyboard like wildfire! Other times (more often), I sit there after reviewing what's already written and wonder "What's next?"

Every now and then, a thought will pop into my mind, generally when I first wake up in the morning, and the next segment of the plot will be obvious. Those moments of inspiration (dare I say Divine inspiration) will drive me through pages and pages of new tales, ultimately leading to the conclusion of another story.

In a way, it is funny. I have read how many authors outline their work and already know how the book will end before they type the first word. That happened to me once with my book, The Second Predaxian War. In every other story, I had no idea where the story was going as I wrote each new section. Personally, I think that's great! I am creating and being amazed by the story just like a future reader might be. To me, that seems the best of both worlds, writer and reader all wrapped up in one.
Karl J. Morgan Write! Everyone has at least one great story inside of them. I wrote my first book almost 30 years ago, back in the day when traditional publishing was the only option. Obviously, the flurry of rejection letters forced me to push it into memory. Now, with other options, I have written eleven books, eight of which are already on sale. If I expected to be a best-selling author, I probably would have given up again already. But that is not what it's about. Tell the world what you want to say! It doesn't matter whether it becomes a money-maker or not, although seeing people buy your work is a real thrill. Either way though, you will know that you have said what you wanted to say, and please know that there are plenty of people out there who will find a connection to your words.

And please let me know about your books. I would love to read what you have to say.
Karl J. Morgan I am currently working on a new fantasy series. It is based on two different ideas. All my life, I've had the feeling that spirits are around us all the time, and if we could just turn around quickly enough, we would see them. I also enjoy learning about cosmology and quantum theory. Current theories speculate that there are ten physical dimensions of space and one of time, rather than the world we can see with three physical dimensions only. Cosmologists also believe that invisible and undetectable stuff called dark matter and dark energy make up 95% of everything.
In this new series, all the dimensions are there together, and it is only our perspective that lets us see three only. Other universes are all around us, but since they occupy different dimensions, we have no idea they are there. The invisible matter and energy of those worlds is what we call dark matter and dark energy. And since they are there, I thought "why not populate them with all the magical beasts and beings that humans have imagined?"
