Goodreads asked Karl J. Morgan:

How do you get inspired to write?

Karl J. Morgan That is a difficult question to answer. For me, it's all about a moment of inspiration. Some days, the words flow from my mind through the keyboard like wildfire! Other times (more often), I sit there after reviewing what's already written and wonder "What's next?"

Every now and then, a thought will pop into my mind, generally when I first wake up in the morning, and the next segment of the plot will be obvious. Those moments of inspiration (dare I say Divine inspiration) will drive me through pages and pages of new tales, ultimately leading to the conclusion of another story.

In a way, it is funny. I have read how many authors outline their work and already know how the book will end before they type the first word. That happened to me once with my book, The Second Predaxian War. In every other story, I had no idea where the story was going as I wrote each new section. Personally, I think that's great! I am creating and being amazed by the story just like a future reader might be. To me, that seems the best of both worlds, writer and reader all wrapped up in one.
