Isaac Thorne For some reason, I was never notified about this question. My apologies it's taken two months to answer! Alas, it's not a question I CAN answer because only you know what appeals to you. ;) I mostly recommend starting with one of my inexpensive (or occasionally free) short stories, though.
Isaac Thorne Howdy, G.M.

Thanks for reading and for asking. As best I can remember, DIGGUM evolved out of a debate I once overheard between a man and woman I once knew. They were arguing about what they wanted done with their remains after they died. The woman was absolutely terrified of the idea of being buried under the ground and wanted to be cremated. The man was insistent that if the woman was cremated she'd destroy her soul and never be able to join him in the afterlife.

That prompted a little logic test in my head: if a deity who promises to resurrect the just on a day of judgment refuses to resurrect bodies turned to ash, what about the just who are accidentally turned to ash? It sounded like a cosmic injustice to me to not resurrect them if they were incinerated through no fault of their own, so I decided to explore that by allowing a character to experience that injustice and, because of it, try to directly interfere in the plans of an almighty.
Isaac Thorne Most of my stories are built around an ultimate scene that I envisioned first. The narratives provide the circumstances that build up to that scene. The ultimate scenes themselves come from "what if" scenarios that mostly spring from the mundane. Example: HOPPERS evolved from all the roadkill I see along my commute in a given week. What if the roadkill wasn't *entirely* dead and knew you were responsible for what happened?
Isaac Thorne Because my 2018 New Year's Resolution is to be less curmudgeonly and more outgoing on my networks outside of Twitter. :)
Isaac Thorne I walked downstairs to cook breakfast. But there were only a few bacon crumbs left in the fridge!
