'Freedom from Bosses Forever' started out as a book called 'Buzzing with the Entrepreneurs' by an alter ego, Leonora Soculitherz. I used the character to say things that would have more impact than if I said them. I built on the character in 'Stripping for Freedom' and finally got the story and content nearly as polished and to-the-point, as my heroes, PG Wodehouse and Miles Kington. This final version, that I'm happy with, is both funny and useful for enterprising individuals. I'm very proud of 'Freedom from Bosses Forever' as a practical, satirical book on enterprise but it all came from the idea of a fictional character.

I get passionate or angry or comedic about a topic and find the characters and story to convey that passion, anger or comedy.

It is a political thriller that I started in early 2012. It is written and the story culminates with the Olympics in 2012. However, I'm on my third rewrite as i want to make it ever more powerful. What is happening in the world through Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Palestine and the levels of corporate, sporting and political corruption make me want to create a genuinely explosive novel. However, there is also a great deal of humour in it - the gang of characters are like an oldies version of Enid Blyton's Secret Seven!

Making people laugh or making people scared or helping people to do something special. Good writing added to the reader's imagination is a powerful combination. It is very rewarding and I enjoy the final result better than anything else because of this special combination of reader and writer.

I must admit to not having a cure. Mine is not so much a lack of ideas - I'm teeming with ideas, especially dialogue, but it is the keying the words in that is my block. I even have Dragon dictate to use as a last resort so that I get the words into the computer somehow. It's as though there's a force stopping me from writing.
Up to now dark chocolate and red wine has worked best to weaken my resistance and get me going again. I love polishing sentences but I think I'm my own worst critic which stops me writing - or is it laziness.
Anyway, I always do overcome it and I'm very proud of 'Freedom from Bosses Forever' as I've worked hard to improve it three times and readers do seem to love it.
