John L. Monk I actually have plans to do all 3 books, but I have no ETA. Sorry. It's more of an economics issue than a desire issue here - because I'd love to have all 3 out now.
Glad you liked book 1 enough to want book 2 though :)
John L. Monk I'm not sure, but I think so. We could also see a series of "rides" -- very short -- featuring Dan and possibly other characters, like Rose. Right now I'm trying to juggle a job and write a few things that will sell well enough that, I hope, can eventually get me out of the job and into the writer's seat full time. We shall see...
John L. Monk Heya Katie :) Thanks for the question.
Dan Jenkins was mainly inspired by my fascination with vigilantes in fiction. We like them (in fiction) because they go after the bad guys nobody can/will touch. At the time, I was watching the show "Dexter" on TV. I'm a self-hating Dexter fan -- I've never been interested in serial killers in fiction because to me they're just universally bad. But Dexter was witty, and he did go after the bad guys, so I watched. With Dan, I wanted that "go after the bad guys" element without the "I sure love killing people" thing that Dexter has -- yet with a supernatural component as an element to the plot.
Dan's humor and odd outlook on life are my humor, and some of my outlook on life.
John L. Monk The mansions in three timezones, the Lamborghini races, being recognized by super models while in public. And good reviews!
John L. Monk Get in the habit of finishing what you start, even if it isn't good. You learn a lot that way. Also: reading books about writing, grammar, etc., doesn't mean you're not being true to your art. A good book to look at: "It was the best of sentences, it was the worst of sentences," by June Cassagrande
John L. Monk Book Three in "The Jenkins Cycle."
John L. Monk One idea in my book came after a friend made me watch The Human Centipede. I'm not a fan of fiction whose sole purpose is to degrade titillate the audience by watching people destroyed for 90 minutes. So I addressed it :)
