Katie Hamstead
Katie Hamstead asked John L. Monk:

What inspired the character of Dan Jenkins?

John L. Monk Heya Katie :) Thanks for the question.
Dan Jenkins was mainly inspired by my fascination with vigilantes in fiction. We like them (in fiction) because they go after the bad guys nobody can/will touch. At the time, I was watching the show "Dexter" on TV. I'm a self-hating Dexter fan -- I've never been interested in serial killers in fiction because to me they're just universally bad. But Dexter was witty, and he did go after the bad guys, so I watched. With Dan, I wanted that "go after the bad guys" element without the "I sure love killing people" thing that Dexter has -- yet with a supernatural component as an element to the plot.
Dan's humor and odd outlook on life are my humor, and some of my outlook on life.
