Very astute :). Yes, I think it'll help differentiate genres for readers. I haven't decided what name just yet, but will figure out a way to reach out to Olivia Jake fans to let them know when those books come out. Thank you again for your interest! It means the world to me.

Hi Lynetta,
Thanks so much for your interest! I'm taking a break from romance and trying my hand at commercial women's fiction.
Thanks again.
Best,

Hi Leena,
Thank you so much! So glad you've enjoyed my books! They say "write what you know" and as a parent only to four-legged kids, I don't think I could do justice to writing convincingly about all the challenges and joys of motherhood. Love your idea though, and appreciate the question.

My most recent, BETTER THAN NONE, unfortunately was borne out of my mother’s battle with cancer. I started writing it while waiting in the hospital during her initial diagnosis. Most of the cancer-related story is very, very close to reality. All of the romance is fiction. I was very reluctant to release it because I’ve always said I write and read romance as a way to escape, and have never understood why anyone would want to read about real-life topics like cancer… Writing it was somewhat cathartic. It allowed me to escape the sadness that was caring for my dying mother.

It’s what I love to do.

I recently finished a new book that’s completely different than anything I’ve written. The main characters are eighteen, so it’s very far from my other books. I’m in the process of sending it out. I have another new book in the works that’s also younger, the MCs are in their twenties. I just don’t want to give away any details just yet. But fear not, I have one more that’s in progress with the main character who’s about to turn 40. It’s an erotic romance.

Write. Stop making excuses as to why you can’t. Even if it’s just ten minutes every day, carve out whatever time you can, and sit down and just do it. When I first started writing, a good friend told me she’d been wanting to write for years, but just never got around to it. After I published my first few books, she said this again. We’ve all got busy lives, but writing has become my passion. I have to write every day. Not because I have an editor breathing down my neck, but because I miss it when I don’t.

Being a writer makes fantasy a reality. I’ve always lived a good part in my own mind (sometimes a scary place to be!) But writing makes whatever fantasy I’m imagining into a reality.

If there’s a scene that I’m struggling with, I usually put it aside and write a scene I know I want somewhere else in the book. New ideas often come when my mind is at rest, ie, when I’m walking the dogs or taking a shower or doing something other than writing. So I’ll write the one I know I want, even if it’s out of sequence. Eventually, the story will get there and I’ll drop it in. Not only does this help me move the story along, it also gets me over whatever the initial hurdle was.
