B. Roman Probably to the Star Factory in my upcoming children's book, "Alicia and the Light Bulb People in Star Factory 13." I'd love working with Carelia the Light Goddess in transforming ordinary "bulb" into glorious Stars in the sky.
B. Roman My life, while colorful, would be a big bore as a book. That's why I make everything up!
B. Roman Wow. The first couple to come to mind are Father Ralph de Briccasart and Meggie Cleary in The Thornbirds by Colleen McCullough. Even more star crossed than Romeo and Juliet, the priest and the young farm girl defy cultural norms, religious taboos and age barriers to indulge in one of the most passionate spiritual and sexual love affairs of all time.
B. Roman I don't remember a time when I didn't want to write. Starting with essays in school, poetry, lyrics, and so forth. Of course there were many periods of time when I didn't write at all. I would feel exhausted from all the hours, days, months and years of dedication to a project, or multiple projects. Then it would dry up, so I would move on to something else, some other art form (singing, dancing) to feed the writing muse. But once I latch onto a project, inspiration is only a part of the process. You have to work and write and edit until it's done. Then, you rewrite and edit until it's done again.
B. Roman I no longer anguish over it. I usually re-read what I've written the day before, or I go and do something else entirely unrelated to writing. Because I have music as an alternate love, this art form often opens up the creative channel to writing again. I love to see movies, and this will also get the juices flowing. But painting, dancing, gardening, etc. will get you out of yourself and surprisingly inspire you anew.
B. Roman I can do it any time, anywhere. In my pajamas or in my dreams!
B. Roman Write, write, write. Read, read, read. But be yourself. Listen to your own inner voice. If a story strikes a chord of inspiration in you just follow it where it goes. Along the way you will hone your craft and the technical aspects, but they are nothing without an inspiration to write.
B. Roman I am currently working on an adult fiction/suspense novel placed in New Orleans, pre Hurricane Katrina. It is a far cry from all of the metaphysical and spiritual fiction and non-fiction I have created.
B. Roman As I stated in my blog, inspiration often comes from unexpected sources. Initially, the owner of a crystal that looks exactly like the "Singer" crystal in the stories sparked a narrative in my mind. Then images and visions of what the end result would be, or needed to be. Of course, music plays such an important part in my life that it is only natural the trilogy I created involved musical themes and powers.
