There was always some big mystery about my mother's childhood. I only know that she was born after her father died (and recently found out that's what the Chinese character of her name means.) My father would say, "Maybe some day we'll tell you." But they have both passed away now, and I'll never know what it was.

I stumbled from the bar to my car. My hands flew up and crashed down on the pavement, breaking a nail, as I watched my keys slip into the sewer grating.

I would go to Discworld and have a cup of tea with Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg.

This is a tough one. When I'm in writing mode, I usually have a daily word count goal. Basically, I don't go to sleep until I hit my goal. When I'm not in writing mode, I have so many ideas and no time to write. It helps to have a space and set a mood for writing. Lighting candles and playing music in the background help me to get in that mood.

I'm trying to get to some local PNW authors. Here's a few on my list for this summer. We'll see if I can get to them all. 1) Linda Jordan - "Faerie Unraveled" 2) Tori Centanni - "The Immortality Cure" 3)JC Hay - "Dubai Double-Cross" 4)Anthea Sharp - "Spark" 5)LE Wilson - "Blood Hunger"

Everything in the world around me inspires me to write; my family, my friends, world events... everything. Catching that one idea and sitting down to write it is harder. Sometimes I'm motivated to do it on my own other times it takes external forces, like friends asking for it or doing writing challenges like NaNoWriMo. Ultimately, writing is something that I've always wanted to do, so I think that inspiration comes from inside me.

The best thing about being a writer is being able to get the stories inside your head out on paper. It's such a great feeling of accomplishment. Also, it's great when people say they like your story!

So many great fictional couples. The first that popped into my head was Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy. But on further reflection I wanted to give an answer that was maybe a little less obvious.
I love stories. Popular stories are wonderful in that we can share together knowing that others probably know what you are talking about. You can share the love of that story and that experience. But I also love shedding light on the over looked or obscure. I'm also going to cheat by adding two fictional couples.
The first is Maggie Ryan and her actor husband, Nick O’Connor. I discovered this couple in PM Carlson's murder mystery, "MURDER UNRENOVATED". I really loved this book and read it two or three times. I love that this cozy mystery has a fun couple that loves adventure almost as much as they love each other. This was reminiscent of such fun couples like Nick and Nora or Tommy and Tuppence.
The second couple I love is Geoffrey Griffin and Sarah Phoenix from the made-for-TV movie and the novel "Griffin Loves Phoenix", both written by John Hill. I discovered this book from the library and fell in love with the quirky and very witty characters who both find out they are dying of cancer and meet at a death and dying seminar. The movie is great with Peter Falk and Jill Clayburgh, but the book is so much better. It has a depth and humor that the movie's one hour and thirty-seven minutes can't capture. I love how the couple reacts to each other, how they come together despite their dire fate. It is a triumph of love and humor overcoming life's tragedies. I must have read this book at least five times. It's a beautiful book and shows a couple with such great chemistry. Enjoy it, but grab your box of tissues!

Keep writing! Don't give up, especially when you think your writing is no good. It's that little negative voice in your head that tells you those things. Power through it and then fix everything in revisions.

This answer contains spoilers…
(view spoiler)[When my father was in the hospital we got lost going down all the corridors and taking different elevators. At the time it wasn't funny, but I can see the humor in it now. :) (hide spoiler)]

I am working on the second book in the Shredded Orphans series, "The Shredded Orphans and the Space Pirates". I plan to have that out sometime in 2014.
